Precision Camshafts-EMAG Alliance to Introduce Assembled Camshafts in India

Precision Camshafts Limited announced a strategic alliance with EMAG Germany. The alliance will see PCL acquire the widely accepted Assembled Camshaft technology which uses the 'Force Free Heat Shrink' - a process which EMAG has patented.
PCL will have exclusive rights to this new technology worldwide. PCL has been in the business of making chilled cast iron camshafts for a long time now and have established themselves as market leaders. The alliance with EMAG will further strengthen the market leadership of both entities.
Yatin Shah, Chairman and MD, PCL said, "We have created benchmarks across all processes and are surpassing customer expectations time and again, while working with some of the largest marquee brands in the Indian and the global automotive industry."
The move to acquiring the rights to the new technology by PCL, is a bid to get ahead of its competitors. Assembled camshafts show the way to the future as they are lighter and that makes a difference in the overall weight of the engine. The Indian automotive industry has not yet taken a liking to the assembled camshafts as the conventional ones are 30% cheaper when it comes to cost.
But the usage of assembled camshafts in Europe and China may see India fall into the trend soon enough and PCL too is trying to convince car manufacturers in India to look that way. Since the assembled camshafts are lighter, it helps improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.
The assembled camshafts will be made at PCL's Solapur facility which has a total production capacity of 13 million shafts per annum.
