  • It’s 6-speed automatic has paddle shifters, which give you better control in tricky inclined situations.

Cons

  • The 1.0-litre turbo-petrol motor runs slightly out of breadth on steep climbs.
  • A tall, heavy clutch pedal (manual gearbox) can tire your left leg when shifting gears constantly.
  • Its 1.0-litre engine lacks an automatic gearbox option.
  • Turbo lag on both engines is quite prominent in some driving conditions.

Verdict

The Nissan Tekton is a capable and reasonably dynamic midsize SUV. It can easily handle long distances and challenging terrain. Also, the tough exterior styling, comfortable cabin, and extra punch from its 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine make it a strong alternative in the segment.

Seshan Vijayraghvan said, “The Tekton has certainly left me impressed. I spent most of the journey to the Himalayas in the 1.3-litre version and also experienced the 1.0-litre manual. Both had their strengths, and both had to work hard on these roads.”

Yes, the 1.0-litre manual demands hard work behind the wheel and lacks an automatic option. But the top-spec 1.3-litre turbo DCT handles cross-country touring without breaking a sweat. We can easily say that this Nissan offers competitive real-world substance.

It may be value for money, but it is yet to catch up with its rivals in many aspects. But if you do end up buying one, you will have fun driving the Kicks 1.3 Turbo.
