- One of the major changes is the new dual-tone interior colour scheme
The 2017 Nissan Terrano was recently launched at a starting price of Rs. 9.99 lakh and going till Rs. 14.2 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. Nissan had first launched the Terrano more than three years ago in 2013 and this is the first comprehensive update after its launch. The Terrano essentially shares its engines, underpinnings and components with the Renault Duster. Nissan believes that the new updates to the Terrano will help boosting sales and also, keep it competent in the ever-growing segment of compact SUVs. Here is everything that you need to know about the new Nissan Terrano.
The New Nissan Terrano gets 22 new features and we have explained them for you. So let's begin.
- The new Nissan Terrano gets a dual-tone colour scheme for the interior. Not only it makes the car look a little sportier from inside but also adds a dash of premium-ness to the cabin. So a good job done there by Nissan.
- The 2017 Terrano also gets a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which looks to be borrowed from the Duster. It has navigation and voice recognition (only for iOS phones though) but no smartphone connectivity such as Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Nevertheless, the usual list of connectivity options such as Bluetooth, USB, Aux-in remains.
(Guillaume Sicard, President, Nissan India Operations, with the 2017 Terrano) - A surprising omission in the earlier model was the steering mounted or column mounted controls but it has corrected the same and introduced controls for audio and telephony on the steering. These are the same buttons that were there on the previous-gen Renault Duster.
- The new Nissan Terrano also gets a cruise control, finally. Of course, it will be offered only on the top trims.
(Nissan Terrano comes with steering-mounted controls for audio and telephony) - Along with the cruise control, the new Terrano also gets a one-touch lane change indicator, which the company says, will make it easier for the driver to indicate a lane change.
- The next new feature to be introduced is the anti-pinch power windows on the driver side.
- The design of the steering wheel is also new. It got a mild re-design in order to accommodate the controls for the audio and telephony.
- The horn on the new Terrano is now a dual-tone unit. No, it is not the colour we are talking about but the sound that it makes.
- The switches for power windows are now backlit, making it easier to operate in the dark.
- The design on the door trims is also new, featuring new materials and having a better finish.
- The upper part of the fascia now gets soft-touch plastic, giving the new Terrano a premium feel.
- The fabric for the seats is also new and gets two colours, keeping in sync with the overall look of the cabin.
- The 2017 Terrano will be available in a new exterior colour, which is called Sandstone Brown.
(One can also gets accessories fitted on the new Terrano, such as these LED DRLs) - The handbrake lever now gets a chrome-tipped button, adding a hint of premium-ness.
- The New Nissan Terrano AMT also gets a hill assist as a feature which ideally should have been introduced as a standard fitment.
- Also, only the 6-speed advance auto or the AMT version of the new 2017 Terrano gets Electronic Stability Program (ESP).
- ABS and EBD with brake assist is a standard fitment on all trims except the base model.
(2016 Nissan Terrano AMT) - Up on the front, the new Terrano gets L-shaped LED DRLs. But these will be just dealer accessories and not exactly company fitted. Similarly, another accessory was the chrome surround for fog lamps on the front bumper. Both these fitments look good.
- The new Terrano also gets an emergency warning brake at the rear.
- Nissan has also introduced an arm-rest for the driver which was a miss on the earlier model.
- The ORVMs are now electrically foldable and have the turn indicators integrated into them.
- Nissan also says that the 6-speed advance auto transmission or the AMT is a new feature too. Although, it was introduced in October, 2016 in the Nissan Terrano AMT. We have driven the car as well.
