2018 Audi A8 Sales To Start In US From October 5; Deliveries in November

- The fourth generation of the A8 is priced at 90,600 euros
- The LWB variant of the new A8 is priced at 94,100 euros

At the Audi Summit in Barcelona, Audi celebrated the world premiere of the new A8 sedan. Now, customers in Germany can order the luxury sedan starting October 5. With strikingly stylish design and the electrification of all drive units, the fourth generation of the A8 is priced at 90,600 euros, while the LWB starts at 94,100 euros. The new Audi A8 will be produced at the Neckarsulm plant in purpose-built production facilities and will be launched onto the German market at the end of November 2017.
In terms of design, the new A8 features a new front end design with a large single frame grille and laser headlamps. It also gets a very distinct front DRLs combined with the matrix headlamps. In profile, the upright front end combined with inclined rear creates is a delight to look at thanks to the striking HD Matrix LED headlights with Audi laser lighting, and the LED light strip combined with OLED technology. The rear end of the A8 gets a new tail lamp design with an end-to-end organic light-emitting diode lights.

With more than 40 driver assistance systems, the A8 is the world's first production automobile to have been developed specially for conditional automated driving. The Audi AI traffic jam pilot will take charge of driving in slow-moving traffic at up to 60 kmph on highways and multi-lane motorways with a physical barrier separating the two directions of traffic. From 2018, Audi will gradually be taking piloted driving functions such as parking pilot, garage pilot and traffic jam pilot into production, depending on the legal situation in the particular country. Audi is the first car manufacturer also to use a laser scanner.
The Audi A8 starts out in the German market with two V6 turbo engines- a 3.0-litre TDI and a 3.0-litre TFSI. The diesel unit with a displacement of 2967 cc produces 286 hp and develops 600 Nm of torque. It propels the A8 with its standard-fit Quattro drive from zero to 100 kmph in 5.9 seconds and on up to an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph. The 3.0-litre turbocharged direct injection engine delivers output of 340 hp with torque of 500 Nm. As a result, the A8 takes 5.6 seconds to sprint from 0 to 100 kmph, and the A8 L takes 5.7 seconds for the same.

The new Audi A8 will also be coming to India, as the test mule was spotted recently in Mumbai. For the Indian market though, the new A8 will come with 6-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. Audi will also launch the V8 petrol and diesel engines at a later stage. It is also reported that the company will introduce a top of the line model W12 motor.
