2018 Triumph Tiger 800: Price Expectation In India

- The 2018 Triumph Tiger 800 will be marginally more expensive
- Expect prices to be hiked by Rs. 50,000-75,000 variant to variant
- New Tiger 800 gets updated styling, and some technical changes as well
Triumph Motorcycles will launch the 2018 Triumph Tiger 800 on March 21, 2018 with as many as 200 small changes, including updates to the engine as well. The new range of the Triumph Tiger 800 will get several important updates, including changes to the engine, gearbox, new instrument panel, ergonomics and even some changes in the design in terms of new colours and graphics. The updated Tiger 800 is expected to be marginally more expensive than the outgoing model, not only due to the changes, but also due to the fact that motorcycles which are assembled in India have become more expensive due to the increase in duties on components of imported motorcycles.

The 2018 Triumph Tiger 800 is expected to be priced between Rs. 12 lakh for the base Tiger 800 XR variant and going up to over Rs. 16 lakh for the range-topping XCA variant. The new 2018 Triumph Tiger 800 range has several new changes over the outgoing model. New paint schemes, new graphics, new adjustable windshield, new LED lights, as well as changes in ergonomics are only some of the 200-odd changes to the new model. The new bike also gets Brembo brakes on the top variants, as well as a full-colour TFT screen on the mid- and top-spec variants. Also new are heated grips and seat on the top-spec variants.

But more than just cosmetic and minor changes, the 2018 Triumph Tiger 800 range also has significant changes under the skin, including the clutch and gearbox. The primary gears and counterbalancer gears in the engine have been re-designed, and backlash gears have been removed, resulting in a muted 'whistling' sound the in-line triple was known for in the past. The first gear is shorter too, with the rest of the gears becoming marginally taller. The engine spins faster now and revs more freely, while the new, compact exhaust offers a meatier exhaust note than before. The output of the engine though remains the same, delivering 93.7 bhp at 9,500 rpm and 79 Nm of peak torque at 8,050 rpm. The top-spec XCx and XCa variants also get an 'Off-Road Pro' riding mode, for better control while riding off-road.
