2020 KTM 1290 Super Adventure Spotted Testing

- The KTM 1290 Super Adventure is not sold in India
- The 2020 model will have a bunch of updates to the looks and equipment
- KTM will launch the 390 Adventure & the 790 Duke in India in 2019
KTM has a long and strong lineage when it comes to adventure motorcycles and the KTM 1290 Duke Super Adventure is the flagship model in the company's line-up and it is ready for a generation change. The new generation model has been spied testing and there are a few differences that it sports over the current model. Looking at the motorcycle, it is evident that the new bike gets a few new body panels whose designs are in line with KTM's 790 Adventure and the factory rally bikes. The test mule also features WP suspension at the front and at the rear. Also, the radiator becomes a little wider and the new panels cover a larger part of the engine and the trellis frame.

The windscreen too is new and looks to be adjustable, possibly electrically and though the test mule gets a temporary small headlamp, the finished model will probably get split LED headlamp along with daytime running lamps, something similar to what is offered on the current bike. The new 1290 Super Adventure looks to have a slightly larger stance and thereby better on-road presence. We also noticed the pannier like box at the rear left side of the motorcycle, which is most likely housing for all the testing equipment.

(Expect KTM to update the engine on the 2020 1290 Super Adventure as well)
The current generation KTM 1290 Super Adventure is not on sale in India. It gets a 1,300 cc V-twin engine which pumps out about 160 bhp and 140 Nm of peak torque. We expect KTM to update the engine as well when the 2020 KTM 1290 Super Adventure is launched. Expect it to comply with the new Euro V emission rules as well.

In fact, none of the big KTM motorcycles are sold in India. But, KTM has confirmed the launch of the 390 Adventure and the 790 Duke in India this year. The 390 Adventure will be the smallest ADV from KTM and the 790 Duke will be the company's new model in the naked middleweight segment. It is of course on sale globally.
