- Both the interiors and exteriors can be affected by UV rays.
- Car paint can dry and start flaking.
- Your car can age prematurely.
No one likes the feeling of entering their car when it's been out in the sun for a very long time. Turns out, not only is it incredibly annoying, but it's also bad for the car itself. Believe it or not, leaving your car in extreme heat and sunlight can have adverse effects on its condition in the long term. For instance, the UV rays from the sun could end up damaging both the interior and the exterior of your car. The paint could dry and start patching up or worse, cracks could start showing up on your dashboard. Seats made of leather and fabric have a tendency to become damaged after prolonged exposure to sunlight. In such cases, dressing them in seat covers is a great way to protect their newness. An added benefit is that these seat covers can help keep your seats cool.
Ensure a good washing cycle

The sun's wrath on your vehicle can be subdued by giving it a wash every now and then. Having a good wash cycle for your car ensures that dust and other particles that damage the overall finish of your vehicle's exterior are regularly washed away. This way, your car's paint doesn't easily get chipped away in the long term.
Avoid parking in the sun

One of the most straightforward tips to protect your car from extreme heat and sunlight is to find parking spots in the shade. It can get tedious at times but it's necessary to ensure a good life for your vehicle. Also, while parking, keep in mind that the sun's movement throughout the day will cause the shade to also move its position every hour. So, pick a spot accordingly.
Wax the exterior
Every few months, make it a point to apply a good layer of wax to your vehicle's exterior. This gives it added protection against UV rays. Plus, it also gives your car an extremely polished look.
Make use of sun film
Sun film protects the inside of your car from UV rays. Not only is it beneficial for your vehicle's good health but it also helps you stay cool during hot summer days when even the air conditioning is not enough. However, such films have a controversial history in India. In 2012, they were banned by the Indian Government, however, they are tolerated as long as they are within a certain limit in terms of visual light transmission (VLT). Your car's VLT should be at least 70 and 50 percent in order for the sun film to be considered permissible.
Check up on tire pressure

Parking on hot pavement with underinflated tires is a recipe for disaster. It can lead to blowouts so make sure to check up on the tire pressure and keep it in line with the levels that are recommended by your manufacturer.
Those are all the tips to protect your car from extreme heat and sunlight that you should keep in mind.
