Highlights

The six millionth Audi with quattro all-wheel drive rolled off the assembly line in Ingolstadt, Germany. It was a monsoon grey metallic SQ5, which will make its way to the United States of America to its unnamed buyer.

The quattro was introduced by Audi in the 1980 and there have been umpteen number of vehicles which have received this all-wheel drive system since then. Approximately 170 different vehicles - including body styles and engine / transmission variants - have been equipped with the system, and it continues to be popular even after 34 years. Today, nearly 50 per cent of all vehicles produced come equipped with the quattro system.

Dr Hubert Waltl, Board Member for Production, Audi, said "Dynamism and sportiness, the utmost technical precision and safety - that's what Audi's quattro technology stands for. More than 30 years ago, it was recognized as a pioneering accomplishment; today, it is synonymous with technical progress."
