BMW Motorrad Unveils 9Cento Concept

- The 9Cento concept was unveiled at the Concorso dEleganza Villa dEste
- The 9Cento concept is an adventure sport tourer
- Expect the 9Cent concept to be showcased at EICMA 2018
The BMW 9Cento (Concept 900) is a radically designed adventure sport tourer which was unveiled at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este in the Lake Como region in Italy. The bike sports a distinctive new design, and has been developed in-house by the design team at BMW Motorrad. According to BMW, the Concept 9Cento, combines all the attributes of three motorcycle segments - Sport, Adventure and Tourer. The engine of the 9Cento Concept is said to be based on the parallel-twin motor of the BMW F850GS, although we suspect it will have a slightly different state of tune than on the adventure tourer.

The BMW 9Cento concept has an engine based on the BMW F850GS
The most radical part of this concept is the design of the panniers, which attach through an electromagnet under the seat, making it easy to unclip and attach. The pannier design also allows for more space for the pillion seat, and with them taken, off the 9Cent Concept has a sleek and sporty rear end. The weight of the 9Cento Concept, and the dynamics have a forward bias, and the relatively high windshield points to the touring credentials of the bike, as well as the innovative storage concept. The chassis design and long suspension travel point to the adventure credentials of the concept as well, promising dynamic handling and a comfortable ride.
So far, there's no word on if this concept will see production form, but knowing BMW Motorrad, an advanced concept could well be unveiled later this year, possibly at the EICMA 2018, followed by a production model. All that's being said right now is that BMW Motorrad will look at feedback from the market and decide on a future course of action for the 9Cento Concept.
