carandbike Awards 2022: Subcompact Car Of The Year - Renault Kiger

The Renault Kiger has won the 2022 carandbike Subcompact Car of the Year award. The French carmaker launch the subcompact SUV in early 2021, and it is built on Renault-Nissan Alliances' CMF-A platform. The Renault Kiger had to compete with the all-electric Tata Tigor EV to win this award. While the all-electric Tigor gave a tough competition, the Kiger's turbo petrol engine and the CVT automatic transmission managed to impress our jury members.

The Renault Kiger comes in two petrol engine options - a 1.0-litre Energy naturally aspirated engine, and the 1.0-litre turbo petrol motor. The former makes 71 bhp and 96 Nm of peak torque, and comes mated to a 5-speed manual and an optional AMT unit. On the other hand, the Kiger 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol version, which makes 98 bhp and 160 Nm of peak torque and comes mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic transmission.
Both version of the Renault Kiger comes in four variants - RXE, RXL, RXT, and RXZ, and they are priced in the range of Rs. 5.79 lakh to Rs. 10.22 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
