- The 2024 Silverado EV takes on the Ford F-150 Lightning Electric Truck
- The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV will hit the US market in 2023
General Motors is one of the big-ticket automakers at the Consumer Electronics Show 2022 and the automaker has taken the wraps off the new Chevrolet Silverado EV at the event. The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV is the big electric pickup truck to compete with the Ford F-150 Lightning Electric Truck taking the age-old rivalry into the EV space. While the Silverado EV isn't the company's first electrified offering, it arrives as one of the most significant ones at least in its home market - the US. The electric pickup promises a range of 644 km on a single charge thanks to the Ultium battery pack, which is the largest of its kind so far.

The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV comes with fast charging up to 350 kW and can juice up for 160 km in just about 10 minutes
Power comes from dual motors that belt out about 664 bhp and a whopping 1,063 Nm of peak torque. The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV also comes with an Engage Wide Open Watts mode that helps the pickup sprint from 0-100 kmph in just 4.5 seconds. The model also comes with fast charging up to 350 kW and can juice up for 160 km in just about 10 minutes. The Silverado EV lives up to its name with electric propulsion as well and comes with a towing capacity of a 4,536 kg trailer or about 600 kg in the bed.

The 2024 Silverado EV also looks nice with the upright nose, split headlamps, and a lighting strip just right below the bonnet. The profile carries a smart yet utilitarian look while the rear is all too familiar albeit with the modern-looking taillights and a flatbed. Overall, the design seems to take inspiration from the Chevrolet Avalanche. GM says the new Silverado EV will first arrive in the base Work Truck (WT) trim and the top-spec flagship RST model in the US. The company is still offering the same range and charging tech on the base variant as well. Power output though drops to 510 bhp and 834 Nm while towing capacity drops to 3,629 kg. That said, a more powerful base version with a towing capacity of over 9,000 kg is in the works.

The Silverado EV RST comes with a towing capacity of a 4536 kg trailer or about 600 kg in the flatbed
The 2024 Silverado EV RST comes with a host of electronic aids including rear-wheel steering, automatic adaptive air suspension, Super Cruise, and a configurable pickup bed with something called a Multi-Flex midgate. The pickup also comes with a 17-inch infotainment display, an 11-inch digital console, and a head-up display spanning 14 inches. The tech in the cabin will run on the new Ultifi Linux-based software platform. There's also an eTrunk on the Silverado EV that's essentially storage space under the bonnet. The model also carries the PowerBase charging system with 10 outlets and 10.2kW of electric power. The device can power tools, toys, an entire house or even other EVs.

Rs. 78 lakh) for the First Edition. There will be other variants joining the lineup at different price points. Reservations are currently open for the new Silverado EV in its home market.
