Driver-Assist Cameras Everything You Need To Know About

- New driver-assist systems are being built to make them more efficient
- Driver-assist systems minimize human error
- Driver-assist mirrors allow for a 360-degree view
The recent innovations in the field of vehicles have been majorly about improving the customers' experience inside the car. Driver assistance is a key technology that many brands are actively investing in. The drivers have to keep track of a lot of things in their surroundings which is why assistance might be necessary. Digital-assist cameras are a great solution for various kinds of problems that customers have to face.

What is a Digital-assist camera?
A digital-assist camera does the exact function as the name suggests. The digital wireframe allows drivers to look at surroundings that they might not see in their natural driving position. This function comes in handy when drivers park, or move backwards, or turn through tight spaces and steep corners.

360-Degree Camera
Also known as “surround-view camera” or “around-view camera”, the camera gives 360-degree coverage to the driver. The system is software-based. There are a minimum of 4 cameras that work together for this system.
There is a camera at the front, a camera at the back, and at least two cameras on the sides. After the cameras capture the surroundings, the software provides a full view, and thus the driver can see around easily. The feed can be manipulated, and often the system comes with voice assistance so that the drivers can focus on their natural driving position.
Blind-Spot Camera
Often, when there are steep turns or a change of lanes, the driver might have certain blind spots (spots the driver cannot see). Now, this might lead to accidents.
The Blind-spot camera system looks to eliminate blind spots entirely so that the chances of accidents are reduced. The cameras are often placed underneath the passenger-side and driver-side mirrors for easy tracking.

Digital rearview Mirror/Camera
The traditional rearview mirrors are essential components of a car. These mirrors allow the driver to look towards the back of the car and make necessary turns in order to avoid collisions.
This system has been enhanced with the help of digital software. Often, when a person is trying to locate stuff behind, the view might be blocked due to tall luggage or passengers, making it hard to drive. The rearview mirrors provide not only a full view of the scenario behind but also voice assistance. The voice assistance can tell the driver information like how much distance is there between the car and the object.
Off-road camera view
This is a pretty new invention. This system allows the driver to look underneath the car. Two cameras are fitted on the door mirrors so that a live feed can be found. The software uploads this onto the infotainment system, and the driver can easily keep track. This system comes in handy while travelling through uneven roads and risky terrains.
