Honda Scoopy Scooter Spotted Testing In India For The First Time

- The Honda Scoopy might not be launched in India
- The Honda Scoopy is already on sale in Indonesia and Philippines
- Even the Honda Grom was spotted testing in India recently
A test mule of the new Honda Scoopy 110 cc scooter was recently spotted testing in India for the first time. The scooter is one of the new models that Honda Scooter and Motorcycle India (HSMI) is rumoured to have planned for the Indian market and the fact that it's undergoing testing here has led us to suspect its imminent arrival. In fact, a few days back we even reported the first sighting of company's popular monkey bike, Honda Grom in India.

Honda Scoopy is yet to be confirmed for India
All that being said, chances are both the Honda Scoopy and the Grom might not be launched in India after all. Responding to a question about the Grom and Scoopy being spotted testing in India Y S Guleria, HMSI Senior Vice President - Sales and Marketing said, "Testing a certain product doesn't always mean that we intend to launch that particular product here. As far as these reports are concerned, there are times when we test certain components or certain parts of a particular product here, and it may not necessarily be that same product which will be launched." This was on the on the sidelines of the 57th annual convention of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

Honda Scoopy gets alloy wheels and a front disc brake
The Honda Scoopy is already on sale in Indonesia and model sold over there is powered by a 108.2 cc single cylinder engine with fuel injection and makes 9 bhp at 7500 rpm and develops 9.4 Nm of torque at 6000 rpm. The scooter gets a CVT gearbox and comes with an idling stop system as well. If at all Honda decides to launch the scooter in India, then the India-spec model might probably get the company's tried and tested 7.9 bhp, 110 cc engine that already does duty on the Honda Activa 4G and the Honda Navi.

Visually, the Honda Scoopy comes with a unique retro design coupled with quirky styling cues, which is particularly seen from the front apron. The curvy apron features a large egg-shaped headlamp flanked by indicator lights on both sides with some chrome surround. The Scoopy gets alloy wheels with 110 mm front disc brake and will possibly come with Honda's combi braking system (CBS) as well. The scooter comes with telescopic forks up front and single shock absorber at the rear. The test mule was also seen with a tail box, which of course will not be a part of standard accessories.
