How to Get Duplicate RC Online & Offline?

To register for the duplicate RC, you must follow a certain protocol. However, before we go into the process of applying for the duplicate RC, it is imperative to understand why you'd need one duplicate copy of this same RC in the first place.

When or why do you need a duplicate RC?
Sometimes the registration document is misplaced, or even the automobile is taken with all of the documentation inside. A two-wheeler insurance company or a vehicle insurance policy would be quite important at this point. Just when you have full coverage, would the insurance company pay you for the declared monetary worth of your stolen automobile when it is not recovered. Unless you have a thorough insurance plan, this same insurance company would not pay the money as well.
As a result, in an attempt to file a claim for a stolen vehicle, the insurance company requires the FIR for that stolen vehicle. Hence, in order to register a FIR with the police station, one must have proof of purchase of the stolen vehicle. In this case, users must go to the RTO office where the vehicle was originally registered. Now let us walk you through the steps to obtain a duplicate RC.
How do you apply online for the duplicate RC?
Because it is all done online these days, there is an online application process for requesting a duplicate RC of any vehicle. And here is how you can go about it:
1. Launch your browser and navigate to the official website.
2. Fill up the form.
3. Enter the relevant information, such as the police FIR and automobile insurance.
4. Pay the charge. The charge is determined by the type of the automobile. For example, the charge for light vehicles such as cars, jeeps, taxis, and so on is Rs. 700.
5. Save and copy the receipt received after making the payment.
6. Deliver the receipt and other documentation to the RTO office.

Documents necessary for online duplicate RC
You must send the required documentation to that RTO office together with the online application. Papers indicated with an asterisk (*) may be required in some states.
1. No. 26 form (A copy testified to the endorsement and even in duplicate from the financier of the hypothecated).
2. Original of the FIR copy when the car is stolen or misplaced; you must file a FIR with the police.
3. Attested copy of the PUC.
4. Attested copy of the valid insurance certificate.
5. Address verification.
6. Traffic police challan clearance.
7. Attested copy of PAN card or the Forms 60 and 61.
8. Pencil print of the chassis and engine.
9. Identification of the owner's signature.
10. An affidavit stating that you misplaced the RC and that it has not been retrieved.

How can I apply for a duplicate RC while I'm not online?
To apply for a duplicate RC offline, complete the steps outlined below:
1. First and foremost, register a FIR with the local police station. Include information on the vehicle's owner, chassis number, engine number, and registration number.
2. Go to the RTO office where the automobile was first registered.
3. Obtain the RC-extract. An RC-extract contains the car owner's information regarding the registered vehicle as well as the driver's licence.
4. Complete the duplicate RC application form.
5. Do this in conjunction with form 26.
6. Obtain confirmation from your vehicle finance, confirming that the car was acquired on loan.
7. Determine if you want a two-wheeler or a four-wheeler.
8. Submit the paperwork to the RTO office and collect the receipt.
What documents do you need to convert the RC book to the RC smart card?
The following are the documents that you would need in order to convert the RC book to the RC smart card.
- Proof of your address
- Your original RC
- Your identification proof
- Chassis imprint
- PUC copy
- An application for the smart card insurance
- Insurance certificate
It is preferable to obtain the RC smart Card rather than keeping that RC book. Because RC books can be destroyed, it is much easier to carry the RC smart card, which is not readily damaged. One can store that RC card in the wallet in the same way you maintain your licence. It would be much more convenient and secure than maintaining an RC book. Acquiring an insurance coverage for the vehicle is mandatory as well.
