Jaguar Land Rovers Opens Techinal Centre for Special Vehicle Operations

At a time when there’s a lot of talk about the company losing investment because of Britain’s probable exit from the European Union, Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) officially opened its new Technical Centre in the heart of the British Midlands. The new facility near Coventry will be the headquarters of SVO and will house manufacturing, paint, technical and customer commissioning and presentation zones inside the 20,000 square metres facility. The investment for this facility has been quoted as 20 million Euros and the workshop features a series of highly advanced workstations and has been created to enable the final assembly of SVO vehicles, by hand, to the highest possible quality.
The Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations was a specialist division of Jaguar Land Rover created in June 2014 and this technical centre will help build a business responsible for halo products (SVO), Vehicle Personalisation, classic car programmes by Jaguar Land Rover Classic and a range of branded goods.
John Edwards, Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations, said, “There are more than 200 skilled employees here that are committed to outstanding quality and craftsmanship in everything they do. The SVO Technical Centre is a very modern facility, inspired by a Formula 1 engineering centre.”
Now the Special Vehicles Operations unit has given us a whole bunch of cars like the Range Rover Sport SVR, Range Rover SVAutobiography and Jaguar F-TYPE SVR and hence we can expect more such interesting options pouring out of this department. Having driven both the Range Rover SVR and the F-Type SVR, we can’t be more excited.
What’s more is Jaguar Land Rover is allowing people to enter Technical Centre’s Bespoke Commissioning Suite but of course by invitation only. But this will help the customers to explore the infinite range of possibilities for creating and customising their own Jaguar or Land Rover vehicle.
