Kawasaki Z250 Launched; Priced at Rs 2.99 lakh

The long-wait for the Kawasaki Z250 is finally over, as the company finally launched the bike in India today. Priced at Rs 2.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Z250 is the third member of the company's Z family of naked bikes. At this price, it also becomes the company's cheapest bike in India. However, the unavailability of anti-lock braking system (ABS) on a bike that costs this much might disappoint some enthusiasts.
In terms of looks, the Z250 is very similar to the Z800 as it borrows its design from the latter. The new bike has an identical head-lamp assembly, side rear view mirrors and tank design. That said, the Z250 also gets a Ninja 300 inspired tail section, alloy wheels and exhaust. The bikes instrument cluster, too, looks similar to the one found on the Ninja 300; it has the same analogue tachometer and LCD screen display for speed, trip and fuel information. What's different, though, is its back-light and size.
Powering the vehicle is a 249cc liquid-cooled, parallel twin motor that churns out a maximum power output of 33bhp along with 21Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to the 6-speed gearbox, which is also found in the Ninja 250R.
To be brought in as completely knocked-down (CKD) units, the Z250 will be assembled locally and sold through Bajaj's pro-biking dealerships.
