Maruti Suzuki Ciaz - 2015 CNB Viewers' Choice Award Nominee

The SX4, when it was launched, created quite an impact. However, the launch of the subcompact sedans dented its sales and Maruti Suzuki was left wondering about the ideal successor for the SX4. It was only when they showcased the concept car at the Delhi Auto Expo, did we get to see the direction in which they were going.

The Ciaz was thus born. Built on an all-new platform, the Ciaz gets a new look and is more stylish when compared to the SX4. Under the hood is the 1.3-litre diesel variant, carried over from the Ertiga albeit a tweaked ECU and throttle. This engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox and puts out 89bhp along with a healthy 200Nm of torque. On the other hand, the new, upgraded 1.4-litre K-Series petrol motor has 91bhp on tap and 130Nm of torque. Two transmission options are on offer with the petrol variant - the 4-speed automatic and a 5-speed manual.

The Ciaz adds to the competition in the segment which already boasts of heavyweights like the Hyundai Verna and the Honda City.
