Maserati Levante Petrol To Be Launched In India In 2018

- The Maserati Levante is the first SUV by the legendary Italian automaker
- Maserati India will only launch the 3-litre V6 diesel first with 271 bhp
- The Twin-Turbo V6 Levante will launch next year in standard and 'S' form
A few weeks ago, we exclusively brought you the Rs 1.65 Crore price point that the Maserati Levante would be launched at. While these prices were set before the increase in GST rates, expect the new launch prices to be around the Rs 1.80 Crore mark. And with the official launch just around the corner, we have some more information on the Italian automaker's plans for the SUV in India. The Italian automaker will only launch the Levante initially with a diesel engine in India. The more powerful petrol engines will only make an appearance in the SUV in 2018 and will be available in the standard or the 'S' variant which offers more power.

The diesel engine on offer is a 3-litre, turbochared V6 that makes 271 bhp and 600 Nm of peak torque. The motor is mated to Maserati's Q4 all-wheel-drive setup and an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The diesel engine takes the Maserati Levante from 0-100 kmph in 6.9-seconds and on to a top speed of 230 kmph. The diesel engine also features a sport mode, which quickens up the gearshifts and opens up valves in the exhaust system that gives the car a slightly sportier exhaust note.
The petrol version, which will be introduced next year, will also get a V6 engine but with two turbochargers. The 3-litre motor will be available in two states of tune. The standard version gets 345 bhp and 500 Nm of peak torque with a 0-100 kmph time of 6-seconds and a top speed of 251 kmph. The Levante S will get 424 bhp and 580 Nm of peak torque. The 100 kmph mark will be dispensed off in just 5.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 264 kmph. The Levante petrol will also get a sports exhaust system that just like the one on the diesel, can open up a set of valves for a sportier exhaust note.
