Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine vs BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe: Price Comparison

- The Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine is the new entry-level luxury model.
- It replaces the Mercedes-Benz CLA in the German carmaker's India line-up.
- The Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine competes with the BMW 2 Series GC.
The Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine is finally on sale in India and will sold in three iterations- the A 200 petrol, the A 200d diesel and the range-topping Mercedes-AMG A35 which is the performance oriented version of the entry-level luxury sedan. Now the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine actually replaces the CLA in the German carmaker's India line-up and is more practical and comfortable. That said, in India it currently lock horns with just one model- the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe as its other counterparts such as Audi is yet to bring in its entry-level luxury model- the new-generation Audi A3. Here's how the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine fares against the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe in terms of pricing.

(BMW recently launched the 220i Sport, which is a base variant of the 2 GC. It skimps on a few features like a larger infotainment display, digital console, gesture control, but packs in all the essential features)
Mercedes-Benz India launched the A-Class Limousine in just one variant for the petrol, diesel and the AMG and it is packed to the gills with features. It is however, Rs. 2 lakh more expensive than the base variant of the 2 GC, but Rs. 1 lakh more affordable on the top trim for the petrol variant.

The Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine A 200d diesel is Rs.50,000 more expensive than the base trim of the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe 220d diesel, but the top-end trim of the latter is more expensive by Rs. 1.4 lakh. Now there is also the Mercedes-AMG A35 performance sedan in the range which actually doesn't have any direct rival in India. That said, BMW does offer an entry-level performance sedan in India- the BMW M340i which outperforms the A-Class Limo performance wise, and at Rs. 62.90 lakh is more expensive.
