There is no denying the fact that electric is the future of mobility. Almost every auto major across the globe is working in this direction, still it's a long journey when it comes to mass adoption of electric vehicles. Even Mercedes-Benz is quite actively pursuing the electric future but till the mass adoption happens, the luxury carmaker isn't refraining from using diesel powertrains in its offerings, citing strong demand for diesel models. Speaking with Siddharth Vinayak Patankar, Editor-In-Chief, carandbike in context of the upcoming EQS on the latest Freewheeling With SVP webisode, Martin Schwenk, Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) - Mercedes-Benz India said, "The bigger the car gets, we also see a strong drive into the diesel engines. So it's really logical that in the C-Class we offer both options, diesel and petrol, and diesel actually in two variants including the top-end. It has a lot of advantages for the car, it has the latest technology also in terms of cleanliness. I spoke about the emission technology, so it is definitely a very future ready vehicle. There's no reason to hide our diesel. On the other hand, since we have both, we'll also react accordingly towards customer demand."
