Rimac Engineers Say EVs Car Accelerate To 100 Kmph In Less Than A Second

- Rimac has been backed by Porsche for the last couple of years
- Porsche orchestrated Rimac taking over Bugatti last year
- Rimac's latest car the Nevera is the fastest EV in the world
Rimac arguably makes the fastest road-worthy car on the planet with its Nevera which can already do 0-100 km/h speeds in less than 2 seconds. But it is not alone here as both the Tesla Model S Plaid and the Lucid Air Sapphire edition can do similar speeds. Its chief engineer behind the Nevera, Matija Renic has said that EVs can be potentially quicker and 0-100 km/h times could drop below a second.
“Figures here and there, we are very proud of them, but the car is more than that. It’s not a one-trick pony, it’s not a dragster that you take to the drag strip and achieve the best times, and that’s it. The car is actually very, very complex, showing you what automotive technology in the future can do. And it’s also very usable and very friendly from the user's perspective. And in the end what we wanted to achieve is develop a driver’s car, something that’s very engaging and very rewarding just taking it out and enjoying it,” he said.
Rimac’s Nevera is already extremely fast and marries an impressive range with a very liveable interior. In fact, its technology is also the basis for the Pininfarina Battista. Will it make a car that’s faster, well, that depends on what is deemed road legal.
