- Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo will reach showrooms by September 2017
- The India-spec model will be different from the one sold in Europe
- The Monte Carlo edition pays homage to Skoda's racing heritage
The long-awaited Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo Edition will finally go on sale in India later this month. The carmaker has said that the car will be launched in mid-August, so expect the car to be launched around the 16th of this month. With just days to go for the official launch, the carmaker has said that the Rapid Monte Carlo edition will reach Skoda showrooms by September 2017. Globally, Skoda already offers the Monte Carlo trim of the Rapid sedan, but this is for the first time that the model is coming to India. Having said that, the India-spec model will be slightly different from the one sold in Europe and will essentially be based on the Skoda Rapid sedan which is already on sale in India.
We first told you about Skoda's plan to launch the Rapid Monte Carlo trim in India last year, in August 2016. Now, Skoda introduced the Monte Carlo edition to pay homage to its racing heritage and the carmaker offers this package with the Citigo, Fabia, Rapid and Yeti in the European markets. These models come with some prominent cosmetic changes and the Monte Carlo edition is especially known for its distinctive red paint job and the stylish black treatment, which is given to the grille, alloy and rear section.

The India-spec Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo will come with similar styling treatment but will be based on the locally-produced Rapid sedan. Along with the aforementioned red paint scheme, the Rapid Monte Carlo will come with an all-black grille flanked by black accented projector headlamps and LED daytime running lights. Similarly, the bumper also gets the black detailing. The India-bound model also gets a different set of dual five-spoke black alloy wheels with silver accents, black ORVMs with integrated turn signal lights and a black roof. There is a small black spoiler attached to the boot lid and the taillamps also get the back treatment.

The interior will also be new and, of course, will get the all-black treatment with contrast red stitching. Skoda has also revealed that the Rapid Monte Carlo edition will get aluminium foot pedals and will possibly be based on the top-spec model. So, the car will also get a touchscreen infotainment system with MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto among other feature. Powertrain details haven't been revealed yet, and will be announced at the launch later this month.
