Suzuki V-Strom 700 With Parallel-Twin Engine Spotted On Test

- Next-generation Suzuki V-Strom 700 spotted on test
- Suzuki V-Strom expected with 700 cc parallel-twin engine
- New Suzuki V-Strom may drop the "V" from the name
Latest spy shots of a test mule seem to indicate that Suzuki may be looking to ditch its v-twin engine on its mid-size adventure touring model and introduce a new parallel-twin engine. The 2023 Suzuki V-Strom 700, as it’s likely to be called, will be built around an all-new parallel-twin engine. The displacement has not been confirmed, but rumours point of an engine with 700 cc displacement, replacing the current 645 cc v-twin of the Suzuki V-Strom 650.

So, will changing from the v-twin engine format also necessitate a change in the model name? Logic seems to indicate that Suzuki will be looking to change the name of the bike as leaving the “V” in the name would no longer make sense with a parallel-twin engine. So far, there’s no news on the exact displacement or output, but it’s expected to have around 75 bhp from the new parallel-twin engine.

The spy shots of the bike undergoing test runs show a new frame and new upside down fork. Towards the rear, we can see a slightly different swingarm than the current model. The test unit sports wire spoke wheels, with a 21-inch front wheel and the rear presumed to be of 18 inches.

Rumours indicate that the next-generation Suzuki V-Strom could also come in two variants, with a more road-focussed variant sporting a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel format, while the more off-road spec XT variant will likely get the 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel combination. So far, there’s not much information about when Suzuki will unveil the new model, but we expect some concrete news later this year, possibly even at the EICMA 2022 show in Milan in November.
