Tesla Power USA Announces India Business Plans
- Tesla Power USA will manufacture and sell electric scooters in India.
- It will open over 5000 shops by 2025.
- These shops will be equipped with electric scooter charging stations.
Tesla Power USA has is all set to make its foray in the Indian EV space with electric scooters. Now before you folks confuse the company with the prominent electric carmaker - Tesla Inc., let us tell you that Tesla Power USA is a sperate entity altogether. It's essentially a US based battery manufacturer who is now entering into the electric two-wheeler space in our market. Tesla Power will soon launch its electric scooter in India and by 2025 will open 5000 shops across the country which will be equipped with e-scooter charging stations as well.
The EV maker has leased out the production of its upcoming electric scooters to a Ludhiana based manufacturer and has confirmed that around 80 per cent of production will be localised while the remaining 20 per cent parts will be imported from nations India has friendly relations with. The company is also planning to expand the sales of its electric scooters to 15 other countries in 2022 and these scooters will be exported from India itself. Tesla Power USA is first targeting exporting to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
The company will initially begin operations with 30,000 units monthly and eventually is targeting scaling up to 1 lakh units by 2025. As of now, its has over 200 battery distributors in India and over 250 Tesla power shops across more than 20 states in the country.
