- The trailer is simple and looks homely with stickers from Hanks' movies
- Hanks' Airstream trailer will grace the auction floor on August 13
Airstream trailers or recreational vehicles have been extremely popular in Hollywood, doubling up as vanity vans for movie actors. Before the high-tech movable homes became a thing in the movie business, these were the gold standard. And now, you have the chance to buy one of these special Airstream trailers that belonged to none other than Academy Award winner, actor Tom Hanks. In fact, the 1992 Airstream Model 34 trailer not only comes with all the customisations that Hanks made when he actively used it but also with 24 years of movie memorabilia as part of the package.

This 1992 Airstream trailer looks just like a regular one from the outside with the triple axle chassis and the signature riveted aluminium body
The trailer is being auctioned in the US by Bonhoms during the Quail Lodge Auction in Carmel, California on August 13. The listing describes the Airstream trailer in detail. On the outside, there are no changes that differentiate this trailer from the others that came out of the factory in Jackson, Ohio. It gets a triple axle frame with the signature riveted aluminium body. However, you do find stickers on the windows that memorialise Hanks' different movies from over two decades right from Sleepless in Seattle, Forest Gump, to The Circle in 2017.

Tom Hanks Airstream trailer also comes with stickers representing different movies, and also an autographed cabinet
Tom Hanks bought the trailer in 1993 after growing tired of the uncomfortable cookie-cutter trailers that were usually offered on sets back in the day. He then asked for a custom interior that comprises a kitchen and bathroom built-in. The idea was to make a comfortable home on location during shoots, and so, the trailer came with his own furniture including a standard sofa with removable legs. It also gets an electric fireplace, a small dining area with a table and chairs in the kitchen and a small bed placed at the back. The complete package is on sale with the trailer.

The sofa was installed by Hanks while also customising a kitchen, bathroom and a bed in the trailer for his comfort
When we say the complete package, it also includes dishes, kitchen equipment, utensils and an espresso machine. More importantly, it gets some epic memorabilia that Hollywood buffs and fans of the actor will absolutely love. From the Apollo 13 mug signed by Hanks along with co-stars Gary Sinise, Bill Paxton, and Kevin Bacon; to an autographed cabinet and air conditioner by the Cast Away actor, make sure this Airstream is one-of-a-kind.

Bonhoms expects the trailer to fetch a price between $150,000-250,000 in the auction
Bonhams estimates the trailer will sell between $150,000 and $250,000 when it crosses the auction block next month. The Airstream trailers are nearly a century old first built in the 1920s. The company was created by Wally Byam and it remains the oldest in the business. It is currently owned by Thor Industries in the US who employ about 800 people for building these recreational vehicles. The smallest trailers start from as low as $40,100 (approx. Rs. 29.84 lakh) going all the way up to $165,900 (approx. Rs. 1.23 crore).
