- List dominated by Hyundai and Tata
- Recent price cut makes Hyundai i20 most affordable car with a sunroof
- Nexon most affordable subcompact SUV to get a sunroof
Sunroofs have been becoming increasingly more common on vehicles in the mass market segments. More and more manufacturers are looking to include the feature on some of their models. Here we take a look at the most affordable models you can currently buy with a factory-fitted sunroof.
Hyundai i20
Variants: Magna, Sportz(O), Sportz(O) Knight, Asta, Asta(O), Asta(O) Knight
Starting price of sunroof-equipped variants: Rs 7.00 lakh (ex-showroom)
The i20 edges out the Exter as the most affordable car on sale in India with a sunroof, following a recent price revision from Hyundai. Buyers can now pick up a sunroof-equipped i20 for as low as Rs 7 lakh (ex-showroom) for the mid-spec Magna trim onwards. Higher variants also offer voice command functionality for the sunroof. The i20 is only offered with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with either a 5-speed manual or CVT gearbox. Customers wanting more oomph from the hatchback can look at the i20 N-Line that features a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol under the hood.
Hyundai Exter
Variants: S+ Executive (CNG), S Smart, S+, SX Smart, SX, SX Knight, SX Tech, SX(O), SX(O) Connect, SX(O) Connect Knight
Starting price of sunroof-equipped variants: Rs 7.03 lakh (ex-showroom)
The Exter drops down to second place in the listing with the most affordable sun-roof equipped model currently priced at Rs 7.03 lakh (ex-showroom). Buyers, however, will need to read the fine print in the brochure when selecting from the lower variants, as the availability of the sunroof may vary depending on the engine option selected as well. Coming to the powertrain options the Exter is offered with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine as standard, paired with either a 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox. A factory CNG kit is also offered across multiple variants.
Tata Punch (ICE)
Variants: Pure+ S, Adventure S, Accomplished+ S
Starting price of sunroof-equipped variants: Rs 7.35 lakh (ex-showroom)
The Tata Punch has been a hot seller for Tata over the past year with the company accumulating sales of over 2 lakh units in 2025 alone. The carmaker has now given its micro-SUV a mid lifecycle update, bringing with it refreshed looks, more features and a new turbo-petrol engine option. Tata offers the option for a sunroof on three variants on the updated Punch, with the most affordable priced at Rs 7.35 lakh (ex-showroom).
Tata Altroz
Variants: Pure S, Creative S, Accomplished S, Accomplished+ S
Starting price of sunroof-equipped variants: 7.36 lakh (ex-showroom)
The Altroz comes in a close fourth in the list. Last year’s facelift gives Tata’s premium hatchback a much-needed design refresh, bringing in sleeker and more contemporary design details. Buyers wanting a sunroof on the hatchback can opt for one from the second-from-bottom Pure variant onwards, priced at Rs 7.36 lakh (ex-showroom). Buyers wanting features won’t be too disappointed either with the trim offering features such as LED headlamps, a touchscreen infotainment system, auto climate control with rear AC vents, auto headlamps and wipers and even cruise control. The Altroz remains the only hatchback in the segment to still get a diesel engine option, with buyers also able to pick between a 1.2-litre petrol or 1.2-litre CNG powertrain option.
Tata Nexon
Variants: Smart+ S, Pure+ S, Creative+ S, Creative+ PS, Fearless+ PS
Starting price of sunroof-equipped variants: Rs 8.30 lakh (ex-showroom)
The Tata Nexon was the most popular model in the Indian market in 2025, topping the list of most sold cars in the country. The subcompact SUV has gone big on features in its latest avatar with updates in 2025 now also making ADAS available on top variants. Buyers wanting a basic sunroof can opt for one from the Smart+ trim onwards for Rs 8.30 lakh (ex-showroom) while those wanting a panoramic sunroof can turn towards the higher spec Creative+ or fully-loaded Fearless+ trims. The Nexon is offered with a choice of powertrain options - turbo-petrol, diesel and CNG.
