Verdict

The new Mercedes-Maybach GLS represents a notable advancement over its predecessor, maintaining its luxuriousness and imposing presence while achieving a more refined, mature, and sleeker design. While there's room for it to be more aesthetically pleasing or powerful, it undoubtedly asserts itself as a flagship within the Mercedes-Benz SUV lineup. With its commanding stature and enhanced features, the GLS is poised to maintain its esteemed status in the luxury full-size SUV segment in India, continuing to captivate and satisfy the discerning luxury buyer.

You might be curious about the Mercedes-Maybach line-up if you're in the market for a high-end luxury vehicle like a Maybach or S-Class. What makes this vehicle different from the others on the market? It is highly recommended that you give some thought to purchasing a Mercedes-Maybach GLS if you are interested in purchasing a vehicle that is both fashionable and luxurious. In addition to having an attractive exterior design, this automobile is outfitted with all the bells and whistles that one might desire, including an exceptional component of luxury. Therefore, if you are considering investing in a luxury vehicle, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS is an excellent option to consider.

The vehicle exudes class and refinement in every aspect of its design. It has the appearance of a vehicle from the distant future due to its streamlined and aerodynamic design. Aluminium alloy and carbon fiber are only two examples of the high-quality materials that were used in the construction of the vehicle's exterior. This makes it possible for the car to be both sturdy and lightweight at the same time.

When we talk about the exterior, the front end is dominated by a massive chrome grille in the form of a Maybach, and it is flanked by sleek LED headlights. The bumper, like the air curtains, is made of huge chrome pieces that are linked together, and it also has a substantial chrome skid plate. Then, you also get chrome inserts on the B-pillar and a Maybach brand insignia on the D-pillar, and it rides on gigantic 23-inch multi-spoke wheels, both of which are again offered as optional extras. An initial and stunning impression is made by the imposing Mercedes-Maybach grille, which has the upright Mercedes Star on the hood in addition to the trendy vertical bars. The exterior of the new Mercedes-Maybach GLS is distinguished by distinctive elements such as the imposing Maybach specific grille with the Upright Mercedes-Benz Star, the large panoramic roof, and the Maybach exclusive and enormous 23-inch (58.4 cm) optional Alloy Wheels. The Mercedes-Maybach GLS quickly displays all of the magnificence and splendour that it is capable of. Chrome was used for the tailpipe trim components and the underride guard. There is also the Maybach Running Board with an Electrically Retractable Maybach Running Board Exclusive two-tone painting possibilities for Maybach vehicles. There is also a radiator grille for the Mercedes-Maybach automobiles, bearing the Maybach brand name and an upright Mercedes Star.

In general, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS is considered to be one of the most opulent automobiles now available on the market. Those in the market for a high-quality car will find it to be an outstanding option because to its distinctive appearance and potent engine.

The Mercedes-Maybach GLS is a top-of-the-line automobile that combines performance and luxury in one package. The vehicle is driven by a 6.0-liter V12 engine. The Maybach GLS is surprisingly nimble for a vehicle with a curb weight of 2.7 tons. An experiment revealed that it takes 5.04 seconds to go from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour, and it takes 18.12 seconds to reach 200 kilometers per hour. The engine in question is a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 that was acquired from AMG. It features a 48V starter-generator that is integrated into the nine-speed automated transmission. The 3982 cc engine generates 557 horsepower and 730 Nm of torque and the 48-volt electric drive contributes an additional 250 Nm of torque and 22 horsepower. That, assuming the system is functioning properly, is almost 1,000 Nm, and you can definitely feel it. The GLS Maybach 600 is propelled by a V8 gasoline engine that has the capability of reaching a high speed of 250 kilometers per hour. Although it is not a sports car, this enormous SUV is capable of cornering at speeds that are rather amazing. Furthermore, the shift from a standard GLS to a Maybach is quite significant.

In terms of the fuel economy that is professed, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS base Petrol model achieves 8.50 kilometers per litre.

Even though moving along very quickly, there's no thrill of excitement inside. The cabin is already incredibly quiet. The relative silence of this area is striking. It's easy to tell that a great deal of effort was put into soundproofing, as the environment is calm and quiet. With the GLS 600's Maybach mode engaged, it leaves the dock like a luxury ship setting sail on the open seas. When set to this mode, the car's suspension becomes even more forgiving, the accelerator becomes more responsive, and the gear changes become nearly undetectable. This is only feasible because Mercedes went to great lengths. Just keep in mind that this is not the legendary quietness of the S-Class. By using rubber bearings, the fan motor, for instance, can transmit very little vibration to the interior. Even the rubber-lined, leather-clad parcel tray in the back has multiple layers of insulation to damp boot resonance, and the air ducts have an additional coating to reduce air rushing noise.

It's also apparent that, at least subjectively, road conditions have improved. The GLS isn't bouncy, which is a surprise given its long-travel suspension and pliable setup. The 600's suspension is so quiet that it nearly disappears into the background, making even the smallest bumps and irregularities in the road seem insignificant. To top it all off, the wheels are a monstrous 22 inches in diameter. The only times you'll hear a 'bob-bob' or a muffled thump are when the road surface abruptly changes if there are sharp edges. What Mercedes has done to make this a reality is nothing short of remarkable. Don't forget that this isn't the very quiet S-Class. Rubber bearings dampen vibrations from the fan motor and prevent them from entering the cabin. The air ducts have an additional coating to reduce airflow noise, and the boot's rubber-lined, leather-clad parcel tray also has multiple layers of insulation to prevent reverberation.

This latest iteration of the company's self-driving technology incorporates the dampers alongside the sensor-controlled Airmatic three-chamber air springs used in the company's earlier cars with the ability to "read" the road ahead. So not only do the springs self-adjust prior to hitting a bump or dip in the road, but the dampers do as well. And each wheel does it on its own! Mercedes asserts that their system is unique in its ability to independently adjust the spring and damping forces at each wheel while also reducing roll, pitch, and lift.

The Mercedes-Maybach GLS was developed specifically for usage off-road and comes equipped with a variety of specialized components that make it an able vehicle. The vehicle's ground clearance of 159 mm and its 4WD system allow it to handle challenging terrain well, while the Bilstein suspension system contributes to an improved riding experience. The vehicle also includes an adjustable air suspension, which allows it to have increased off-road performance by allowing it to be lowered.

The cabin of the Mercedes-Maybach GLS is a lavish and sumptuous environment to be found inside. The craftsmanship is impeccable, and the materials that were used are of the highest quality.

In the inside of the new Mercedes-Maybach GLS, you can make whatever choice you choose. The First Class cabin has everything a passenger might want, from a reclining seat and a refrigerated section stocked with silver champagne flutes to 3D audiophile-quality high-definition entertainment. While the Maybach does not have a longer wheelbase like the S-Class does, Mercedes has eliminated the third row of seats from the GLS, reducing the vehicle's seating capacity from seven to four. The two rear reclinable seats, lined in luxurious Nappa leather, are where most of the room is found. The cabin is draped in Nappa soft-touch leather upholstery and it gets a 3135 mm long wheelbase, while the rear passengers get 1103 mm of legroom.  The seat base is as plush as a sofa, the backrest provides excellent support, and the ability to recline the seat to 43.5 degrees (the same as the S-Class) and extend a footrest makes taking off your shoes and stretching out a true luxury. Simply adjust the backrest and footrest to your preferred positions and then save those settings in the seat's memory. The GLS could use a little more legroom because it's narrower than an S-Class, but the seats are comfortable, heated and cooled, and offer multiple massaging settings. The massage chairs offer resistance that must be pushed against to get a good back and shoulder workout.

The Mercedes-Maybach GLS is an opulent automobile that provides a degree of comfort and technology that is unmatched by any other vehicle now on the market. The vehicle is distinguished from its rivals by a plethora of characteristics that are unique to it.

The technological prowess of the Mercedes-Maybach GLS is undoubtedly one of the automobile's most eye-catching characteristics. The vehicle boasts a variety of technological advancements that place it among the most cutting-edge automobiles now available on the market. For instance, the GLS 600 may be converted into a luxurious day spa. The cabin lights are lowered, coloured ambient lighting creates a soothing atmosphere, and the 27-speaker, 1,590-watt Burmester sound system plays your favourite spa tunes as you enjoy a soothing heat massage. The Maybach's in-car fragrance is like a bonus after-the-fact son et lumière experience. To add to the ambiance, Mercedes provides the Maybach GLS 600's optional Air Balance package, which includes a dedicated fragrance made from white osmanthus bloom, a floral and light scent that is rounded out by a mild leather note and spicy tea. It also includes a wide variety of ambient lighting, ventilated massaging seats, and an electric panoramic sliding/tilting sunroof with opaque roller shades. Whether you go with a four- or five-seater, the back seats in both configurations can recline. Dual 12.3-inch displays are standard on the large display unit that serves as both the instrument cluster and the media display, and the latest MBUX infotainment system with the "Hey Mercedes" voice command system and Mercedes Me connected car technology is installed.

The most expensive trim level of the Mercedes-Benz GLS 400d 4MATIC comes standard with nine airbags (one each for the driver, front passenger, two curtains, driver knee, driver side, front passenger side, and two rear passenger sides), forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, high-beam assist, seat belt warning, child lock, anchor points for child seats, overspeed warning, speed sensing door lock, anti-theft engine immobilizer, middle rear three-point seatbelt, and flashing emergency The E-Active Body Control technology provides both self-levelling and active dampening support for the vehicle. A hydraulic pump that is electrically driven is used to help dampen the movement of the vehicle, so that it does not roll, squat, or pitch as much as it otherwise would. Unbelievably, the system is also able to recuperate energy from the up and down pressures that it generates, roughly half the amount of energy that is required. Our roads have bad surfaces but this is possible even here!

Maybach 600 4MATIC, 400d 4MATIC, and 450 4MATIC are the three available GLS models. The base price of a Mercedes-Benz GLS is Rs. 1.16 Cr for the 400d 4MATIC, with the top-of-the-line Mercedes-Maybach 600 4MATIC going for Rs. 2.47 Cr. The 600 4MATIC is the model that sells the most units.

The Mercedes-Maybach GLS was designed to go up against vehicles such as the BMW X7, Volvo XC90, Land Rover Range Rover Velar, and others. It also competes with vehicles like the Bentley Bentayga, the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, and the Land Rover Range Rover Autobiography in India, amongst other luxury SUVs.

The Mercedes-Maybach GLS is widely regarded as one of the most opulent automobiles now available. However, does the price of this vehicle reflect its value to customers?

In a nutshell, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS provides an outstanding amount of value for the price. It has numerous amenities that you wouldn't find in other luxury automobiles, such as a cabin that is comfy and spacious, and it comes standard with all of these features. The characteristic broad display unit, which includes the instrument cluster and the media display, is outfitted as standard with two 12.3-inch screens and the most recent MBUX infotainment system, which includes the 'Hey Mercedes' voice command system and Mercedes Me connected car technology. In addition to this, the car is able to travel at high speeds comfortably and at this price point, you basically get everything tha

What's New?

Mercedes-Benz India has launched the ultra-opulent Maybach variant of its flagship SUV in India. The Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 has been launched in India with prices starting at Rs. 2.43 crore (ex-showroom) and will be sold as a completely built unit (CBU) or fully imported model in our market. The German carmaker is sticking with original plan to launch 15 new models this year and the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 is one of them. In India, it goes up against the likes of the Bentley Bentayga, Rolls-Royce Cullinan and the Land Rover Range Rover Autobiography among others.

As we already know, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 is based on the new-generation GLS SUV that went on sale in India last year. That said, the new-generation Mercedes-Maybach GLS easily differentiates itself from the regular GLS line-up, courtesy the new dual-tone body colour treatment option and all the bling on its face. Speaking of the face, the front end is dominated by a large Maybach-styled chrome grille flanked by sleek LED headlights. The bumper too sports large chrome air curtains that are conjoined, along with a thick chrome skid plate. Then you also get chrome inserts on the B-pillar, Maybach brand logo on the D-pillar, and it rides on massive 23-inch multi-spoke wheels that again are offered as optional.

The cabin is where this Maybach really stands out. You can have it in both four and five-seater options and the former also comes with a fixed centre console that has space for a refrigerator to store champagne bottles, along with silver champagne flutes, a thing we are used to seeing in these flagship models. The cabin is draped in Nappa soft-touch leather upholstery and it gets a 3135 mm long wheelbase, while the rear passengers get 1103 mm of legroom. Of course you get to see the Maybach logo at multiple places inside the cabin as well. Building up on the ambience, Mercedes also offers an optional Air Balance package with the Maybach GLS 600 with a dedicated fragrance- white osmanthus blossom, floral and light which is rounded off by a gentle leather note and spicy tea.

To begin with, the Maybach GLS 600 gets all the bells and whistles as standard from the regular GLS and then some that comes with that Maybach badge. So it has an electronic panoramic sliding/tilting sunroof with opaque roller blinds, ultra-comfortable and bolstered ventilated massaging seats and a wide range of ambient lighting among others. Whichever one you opt for, the four-seater or the five-seater, the rear seats come with a reclining functional as well. The signature wide display unit featuring the instrument cluster and media display comes with two 12.3-inch screens as standard and is equipped with the latest MBUX infotainment system with the 'Hey Mercedes' voice command system and Mercedes Me connected car tech.

Under the hood, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4Matic will come with a 4.0-litre V8 engine that is tuned to churn out 542 bhp and 730 Nm of peak torque, while being mated to a 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission. The engine is coupled with a 48-volt system EQ Boost system, which offers an additional 250 Nm of torque and 21 bhp output.

To offer utmost comfort, Mercedes-Maybach has also equipped the SUV with Airmatic suspension system with Adaptive Damping System Plus (ADS+) in addition to the E-Active Body Control. A special Maybach drive program tuned for maximum ride comfort has also been developed. It combines air suspension with adaptive ADS+ dampers and depending on the surface their behaviour automatically varies at each wheel, in both the compression and rebound stages. While driving, a sophisticated sensor system is programmed to set the dampers according to the quality of the road in a bid to ensure that cabin is at its stable best even on bumpy terrains and the jerk or undulation faced by one wheel is not transmitted to the entire axle and in-turn the cabin.
