10 Common Causes of Overheating In Cars

- If the water pump isnt adequately functioning
- If you spot a broken hose clamp
- Due to cracks or clogs
Cooling System Leaks
If the cooling system has any leaks, the coolant drips through the crack, and air enters the system. Owing to this, the coolant finds it hard to reach the engine, ultimately causing the car to overheat.

Improper Coolant Concentration
Another common reason for car overheating is incorrect coolant concentration. Make sure to use the correct type of coolant for your car. Without the proper mixture, the car´s temperature is prone to rise.
Loose Coolant Hose Clamp
If you are experiencing engine overheating, you should check for a loose clamp on the car coolant hose. The coolant hose clamp tends to wear over time. So, if you spot a broken hose clamp, replace it to prevent overheating.

Faulty Thermostat
The thermostat in your vehicle might be malfunctioning. Due to a broken thermostat, the coolant cannot pass through the system, causing the car to overheat.
Cracked Car Radiators
The car's radiators are responsible for pulling the heat away from the cooling system in the vehicle. However, cracks or clogs may reduce the radiator´s efficiency, causing the car to overheat while operating.
Worn Out Hoses
Worn out or cracked hoses are cause for immediate concern as this would leave you with a leaky engine. A leaky engine can cause overheating by obstructing the coolant's flow. So, replace the old hose right away!
Bad Radiator Fan
One of the functions of a radiator fan is to pull the air across the radiator to reduce the coolant temperature. However, a broken radiator fan can't reduce the temperature and cause overheating issues.

Broken Belts
The belts play a critical role in determining heating issues in vehicles. If the drive belts of your car are loose or broken, be prepared to witness heating issues. A broken drive belt cannot maintain the correct volume of coolant flow.
Low Oil Levels
Engine oil is essential for preventing heat and supporting the cooling process. Oil also helps reduce friction and lubricating. So, if your car is overheating, give a check to the oil levels.
Faulty Water Pump
The vehicle depends on the water pump to remain cool and waive off the excessive heat. A water pump is the heart of the cooling system of every car. If the water pump isn´t adequately functioning, the car is prone to get overheated.
