2018 Triumph Tiger Range Teased Ahead Of Debut At EICMA

- Triumph Motorcycles has released a teaser video of the new Tiger range
- The new Tiger range will get improved electronics and hardware too
- The 2017 EICMA Motorcycle Show is scheduled to start on November 7
The Triumph Tiger range of the adventure tourers are as popular as they get globally, and the motorcycle is all set to move into its next generation later this year. Triumph Motorcycles has released a new video teasing the comprehensively updated 2018 Tiger 800 and 1200 models that will be making its world premiere at the upcoming 2017 EICMA Motorcycle Show on November 7. The teaser reveals a fair share of details about the all-new offerings, which will sport a new engine while also getting a major upgrade on the feature front.

The teaser video reveals a host of new details about the 2018 Triumph Tiger twins. More prominently, the new Tiger will be sporting a revised front with updated headlamps (possibly identical on both models) and a larger windscreen as well. While the design remains distinctive, it's evolutionary with the headlamps now incorporating LED DRLs, and the very BMW GS-like beak mudguard.

In addition, the video also reveals a new colour-TFT instrument console similar to that on the Triumph Street Triple RS and will subsequently make it to other Triumph offerings as well in the future. The console, we can expect will be very similar to that on Street, but should be more easy access on the fly, thanks to the addition of the joystick on the left side of the handlebar. That being said, the video reveals new switchgear as well on the 2018 range Tiger.

The video talks about a new powerplant on the 2018 Triumph Tiger, but little is known about the same. What we can expect is a comprehensively updated three-cylinder engine with better low-end torque and cooling as well. The new engine will also be Euro 4 compliant and should be more efficient as well. The current three-pot motor on the Tiger makes 93 bhp and 79 Nm of peak torque. On the Tiger 1200, expect the 1215 engine to continue, albeit with major changes.
Other changes expected on the new Triumph Tiger include a revised front and rear suspension with better adjustability, new braking components from Brembo and higher electronic intervention. The model will get adjustable ABS and Traction Control, multiple riding modes and much more. The model could possibly have cornering lights as well this time for improved illumination.

(The 2018 Triumph Tiger will borrow the TFT instrument console from the Street Triple RS)
Reports suggest that Triumph Motorcycles will drop the Explorer moniker from the larger Tiger 1200 and both models will now bear similar designations as well. So, the tarmac friendly versions will be badged as the XR, XRX and XRT; whereas the off-road versions will be called XCX and XCA.
The Triumph Tiger is an extremely important model for the UK-based bike maker. The Tiger leads the premium adventure tourer segment in India as well. From what we hear, the 2018 Triumph Tiger 1200 could make it to India in April next year, while the Tiger 800 and the new Speed Triple will follow soon by June 2018. Fortunately, the wait isn't a long one leading up to EICMA.
