2019 Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 Announced; Gets More Power And New Features

The Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 (previously known as the SLK) is one of the older cars in their range presently and the model certainly identifies with the German brand world over. However, with the push towards crossover and electric models taking precedence at Mercedes-Benz, reports are rife that the SLC might not make it to the next generation. Nevertheless, the Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 soldiers on for now and the automaker has announced the 2019 edition of the hard-top convertible. The updated model comes with more power and more kitted features on offer.
Barring the new SLC badging and a major update in 2015, the Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 has largely remained untouched over the years. For the 2019 model year, the SLC 43 AMG continues with the same design and styling. Power comes from the same 3.0-litre V6 biturbo engine, but has been uprated to produce from the previous 362 bhp to 385 bhp, while peak torque stands the same at 520 Nm. This means that the model should be able to put out faster times with the current SLC capable of hitting 0-100 kmph in 4.6 seconds.

Besides the engine update, the Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 comes with additional standard equipment including a dual-zone climate control system, active LED headlights with automatic high beam assist. The AMG convertible can be ordered with a new Graphite Grey exterior as well. In India, the Graphite grey paint scheme can be had with the recently launched SLC 43 RedArt edition. Meanwhile, for the US, the standard Mercedes-Benz SLC 300 also comes with a host of other features including an analog clock on top of the dashboard, Harman Kardon sound system, blind spot assist, ambient lighting and Parktronic system.
The Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 has been around since 2011 and will soon need a replacement as it becomes increasingly less popular to produce. AMG boss Tobias Moers had previously stated that the car's fate was being discussed earlier this year, but there have been no announcements as yet. That said, the SLC 43 is likely to be around for at least another two years or so, beyond which the model could be replaced by an all-new Porsche 718 Cayman rivaling model from the Stuttgart-based manufacturer.
