2021 BMW M5 Competition: All You Need To Know

BMW has launched the new M5 Competition in India just days after it introduced the new BMW 5 Series facelift. The BMW M5 Competition is the all-wheel-drive performance version of the 5 Series facelift and comes to our shores as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) or import model and can only be booked online. The new BMW M5 Competition also comes with visual tweaks, suspension, and an updated infotainment system that makes the car more exhilarating than it already was. Here's everything you need to know.

- At Rs. 1.62 crore, the 2021 BMW M5 Competition is now Rs. 7 lakh more expensive than the outgoing model.
- Visual upgrades on the 2021 BMW M5 Competition include the Laserlight headlamps with L-shaped DRLs, revised taillights, as well as reworked bumpers with larger intakes.

The profile of the new BMW M5 remains identical to its predecessor.
- The rear sports a new apron and diffuser design along with revised exhaust tips. There are three different 20-inch alloy wheels options to choose from.
- On the inside, the cabin layout remains the same but gets a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Drive 7. It is now compatible with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as part of the upgrade.

The new standard Live Cockpit setup with iDrive7 comes as the most prominent update on the inside.
- Other features include ambient lighting, four-zone climate control, hands-free parking and Harman Kardon sound system among others.
- BMW has also tweaked the 2021 M5 Competition's chassis for more dynamic handling and the suspension gets adaptive dampers.
- Under the hood, it gets a 4.4-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine that puts out 612 bhp and 750 Nm of peak torque. It clocks triple digit speeds in 3.3 seconds.
- The engine is mated to a seven-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to all four wheels.

At the rear the 2021 BMW M5 gets an angular bumper and revised diffuser.
- That said, you do get the option to choose between four-wheel drive or a rear-biased set-up.
- The M5 Competition gets multiple drive modes including Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and the new Track mode.
