Brad Pitt's Triumph Bonneville To Be Auctioned

- Ocean's Eleven producer Jerry Weintraub gifted the bike to Pitt
- The special edition bike was built by Brad Holstein
- The bike was a tribute to legendary stuntman Bud Ekins
A Triumph Bonneville that used to belong to Hollywood star Brad Pitt will go under the hammer at the Coy's Auction at the Carol Nash MCN London Motorcycle Show. The 2009 Triumph Bonneville Bud Ekins Desert Scrambler Special belonged to Brad Pitt and was one of three commissioned to celebrate the life of stuntman Bud Ekins who died in 2008. Ekins was a close friend of Steve McQueen and the duo had raced together in the 1960s. The special edition tribute bikes were built by Brad Holstein on behalf of Triumph.
Ekins doubled for Steve McQueen in The Great Escape, in what could be one of the most famous motorcycle stunts in Hollywood history. Ekins completed in seven International Six Days Trial (ISDT) events in the 1960s, winning four gold medals and one silver - all on Triumph motorcycles.
The machine which will be auctioned was given to Brad Pitt as a present by Ocean's Eleven producer Jerry Weintraub with the fuel tank cap engraved with a birthday message. The bike is expected to fetch between GBP 20,000 and 30,000 (between Rs. 1.8 lakh - 2.7 lakh) at auction on February 17. According to the listing, the bike retains its original registration plates and is in road-ready state.
Other motorcycles which will be auctioned include the 26th out of the 50 produced 2016 Norton Domiracer, a 1938 Ariel Square Four, a 1976 Laverda 3C and a 1930 Rudge Ulster to Grand Prix Specification. The Norton Domiracer is a completely handmade motorcycle with each component carefully crafted, including a carbon air box, carbon front mudguard, carbon seat, race exhausts, Brembo brakes and a hand beaten tank.
