Highlights

  • The heating system of the car uses a radiator for its functioning.
  • Heater core, heater control valve, heater hoses - parts of car heating
  • The heating system uses fuel for its working, thereby reducing mileage

The car heating system is one of the most important car systems. The heaters perform the function of heating the car during winters. Imagine the discomfort that passengers would go through without heaters working desirably. Unfortunately, there can be some serious problems if the parts of the heating system get damaged somehow, thus necessitating regular monitoring.

Problems with the heaters

Various issues can be causing the heater systems to malfunction:

  • Low coolant level: Coolant performs a pretty important job in the car. The coolant keeps the engine in optimum condition. When the heat is extracted from the engine, then that is delivered into the heater. Without proper levels of coolant, the heater malfunctions.
  • Heater core problems: The heater core makes sure that the coolant flows smoothly. It also controls the defrosting and heating action of the car. When the heater core gets clogged, then the heater system stops working.
  • Control Valve: The control valve regulates the temperature of the air flowing inside the car. When the valve gets jammed, the temperature cannot be controlled according to the customer's needs.
  • Controls malfunctioning: When the controls are used for a long period, they might become faulty.
  • Defective thermostat: The car's temperature gauge indicates if the thermostat is faulty. If the gauge points to C, the thermostat is defective and needs to be replaced.
  • Leaks: Check for any signs of leakage in radiators, car hoses, and water pumps. If there are any signs of leakage, that part needs to be replaced as soon as possible.

Problems with the cooling system

Along with problems with the heater, problems with the cooling system are equally painful. The various problems that could be messing up the cooling system of the car can include the following:

  • Low refrigerant level: The refrigerant is one of the most important parts of the cooling system. Low refrigerant levels can lead to the system malfunctioning. Lower refrigerant levels might even lead to the ACs blowing out hot air into the car cabin.
  • Clogged condenser: There can be a buildup of unwanted materials that clog the condenser. There can also be leaks that can damage the condenser and make it hard to cool the car cabin. These problems should be resolved immediately.
  • Damaged compressor: The compressor is responsible for the exchange of heat. The heat is dumped out into the atmosphere through the compressor. Since the compressor is placed at the front of the car, it is prone to damage from external elements. Therefore, it is essential to take the car to the service center as soon as possible and get the issues resolved!
