Chevrolet Trailblazer Receives Heavy Price Cut In India

- The Trailblazer has received a heavy price cut of over Rs. 3 lakh
- The Chevrolet Trailblazer comes in a single LTZ variant in India
- The Trailblazer comes to India via the CBU route
Chevrolet Trailblazer, the flagship SUV from the American carmaker has recently received a heavy price cut in India of over Rs. 3.0 lakh. After the price reduction, the SUV, which only gets a single LTZ variant in India, now comes at Rs. 23.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) making it quite a compelling offer for this festive season.
Talking about the price cut, Hardeep Brar, Vice President of Sales at GM India said,"We have provided a special price of Trailblazer at Rs 23.95 lacs as special festive & year end pricing. This is an approx. discount of Rs 3 lacs against the original price of Rs 26.99 lacs. We shall be reviewing it once we go in to the new year."
Launched in October last year, the Chevrolet Trailblazer completes one year in the Indian car market this month. Currently, the company retails the Trailblazer SUV in India as a completely built-up (CBU) product, which is why despite the heavy price tag the SUV misses out on a number of features compared to the offering of its competitors like the Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner. In fact, in the past six months - April 2016 - September 2016 - Chevrolet India has sold just 28 units of the Trailblazer. Considering the sales haven't been all that impressive, this could be Chevrolet's idea to cash in a bit on the festive mood.
The Trailblazer Comes to India via the CBU Route
In addition to that, rival Ford India last month issued a similarly heavy price cut on the new Endeavour in India, Toyota is ready to launch the next-generation Fortuner in India on November 7, all of which is building up more pressure on the Trailblazer.
Coming to the SUV itself, the Chevrolet Trailblazer is a full-fledged SUV version of the company's pick-up truck Colorado. The SUV is powered by a massive 2.8-litre, 4-cylinder, diesel engine that promises 197bhp at 3600rpm and 500Nm of maximum torque from as low as 2000rpm. Its fuel-efficiency is rated at 11.45 km/l. The transmission duties are taken care of by a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Among other features, the Trailblazer gets 3 rows of seating and a 7-inch MyLink touchscreen infotainment system with a smartphone app link but misses a navigation system. The SUV also comes with safety features like hill climb and descent assist, electronic stability control, ABS and traction control among others.
