New Toyota Fortuner Clocks Up Over 5,400 Orders In Two Weeks

- The new Toyota Fortuner was launched in India earlier this month
- Toyota said it also received over 16,000 enquiries for the SUV
- The new Fortuner is offered with both diesel and petrol engine options
The new Toyota Fortuner, which was launched earlier this month in India, has already garnered more than 5,400 bookings. Toyota said it has also received over 16,000 enquiries for the Fortuner SUV in just two weeks since it arrived in the market here. And while deliveries of the car have already started, certain variants of the SUV are currently commanding a waiting period of nearly two months.
N. Raja, Director & Sr. Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, "We are overwhelmed with the response that the new Fortuner has garnered in just two weeks' time since its launch. We have noticed a significant customer preference towards the automatic transmission and trying our best to deliver the product to the customer at the earliest so that they don't have to wait too long. We are glad that the new Fortuner has been able to make such an impact even after the festive period is over. This reiterates the popularity of the Fortuner which has maintained its number one positioning in the segment ever since its launch in 2009. We whole heartedly thank our customers for their appreciation and their trust that they have placed on the brand as well as the product."

The latest model of the SUV, which has a base of nearly one lakh customers in India and over 1.3 million customers globally, is based on the new the 'Toyota New Generation Architecture' (TNGA) platform that also underpins the new Innova Crysta. As noted in our new Toyota Fortuner review, the SUV receives a host of design and cosmetic changes that endow it with a sleeker stance instead of the butch bearings that had become synonymous with its name.
The new Fortuner SUV is offered with a choice of two engine options: the 177bhp 2.8-litre GD-Series diesel and the new 164bhp 2.7-litre petrol. The petrol engine, available only in the 2WD version, is offered with a choice of a 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic (with paddle shift) transmission options. The oil burner, on the other hand, gets a choice of 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions and gets both, 2WD and 4WD options.
