Devel Sixteen - this beast of a car made its debut at TIAS 2019 (Toronto International Auto Show). However, the D-16 has been around as a prototype for quite some time now. As far as prototypes go, the Devel Sixteen is one of the most extreme examples in existence. The public got its first glimpse of the car´s engine back in 2015. The maddening 5000 horsepower v16 engine which would go on to power one of the most outrageous supercars of all times vowed the audience. The hype was justified as well because no other car manufacturer in the world made a production car featuring such a powerful engine. When completely ready, the engine can generate a whopping power of 5000+ hp paired with a mind-boggling torque of 3750+ pound-feet.

THE ENGINE POWERING THE BEAST

The D-16 draws enormous power from a quad-turbo 12.3L, V-16 engine that was designed and manufactured by Michigan-based Steve Morris Engines, a renowned name in turbo and supercharger kits. According to Steve Morris, the engine would simply “twist itself apart like crazy”, owing to it all to the LS V-8 engine's parts paired with components from a Chevy big-block platform.

Since this is car is an ambitious project, even the manufacturers knew that designing and building an engine that would be capable of creating a horsepower of 5000 hp would be a tough challenge. This is why the world has not yet witnessed a complete production version of the Devel Sixteen.

The Devel Sixteen will be the first production car in the world having a power of 5007 hp at its disposal. This car can achieve a speed of 60 mph in 1.8 seconds and then power on to reach top speeds of 348mph. They better find tires that can take the heat!

It may come as a surprise but the company plans to offer the car in different engine variants. The top-variant featuring a 5000+ hp-offering engine was estimated to cost around $2 million.

The strain of the powerful engine can cause serious damage to the car if it is pushed to its limit on a long stretch of road. Therefore, the top-variant is still not road legal.
