Diesel Prices Hiked For Second Consecutive Day; Petrol Remains Unchanged

- Diesel prices hiked by up to 26 paise; Petrol remains stable

Diesel prices on Monday were increased by up to 26 paise across the country, while petrol rates were left unchanged for the 22nd consecutive day. Diesel rates have increased for the second consecutive day and three times in the last four days taking up its retail price by 70 paise a litre. As per the notification from the country's leading oil retailer - Indian Oil, petrol prices in Delhi remained steady at 101.19 a litre. Diesel, on the other hand, now retails at Rs. 89.32 per litre, after seeing a hike of 25 paise.

Here are the petrol and diesel prices across six major metros on September 27, 2021:

In Mumbai, diesel rates were hiked by 26 paise from Rs. 96.68 per litre to Rs. 96.94 per litre while petrol is being sold at Rs. 107.26 a litre. Buyers in Kolkata will now have to pay Rs. 92.42 a litre for diesel while petrol retails at Rs. 101.62 a litre. In Chennai, diesel prices were hiked by 24 paise to Rs. 93.93 per litre, while petrol continues to retail at Rs. 98.96 a litre. The auto fuels in Bengaluru cost Rs. 104.70 per litre and Rs. 94.80 per litre for petrol and diesel respectively.

Buyers in Kolkata will now have to pay Rs. 92.42 a litre for diesel
Bharat Petroleum Corporation, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation and Indian Oil Corporation are the three major oil marketing companies in India. The state-run oil marketing companies review petrol and diesel rates daily and make necessary changes to align the petroleum prices with the global benchmark and dollar-rupee exchange rate.
