F1: Hamilton On Pole at Monza, Rosberg second as Williams lock Second Row

After a great FP3 session, it was Lewis Hamilton who took pole position at the Italian Grand Prix with team-mate Nico Rosberg set to start alongside him at Monza. Mercedes locked the front grid and for many this could have been easily predicted.
Hamilton pulled out a gap of 0.4s between himself and Rosberg. Williams looked strong throughout qualifying, finishing closely behind the two Mercedes' in the first two parts of the session, but Rosberg gave himself breathing space on his final run as he improved to within 0.3s of Hamilton.
Williams' Bottas and Massa locked the second row as the two McLarens of Kevin Magnussen and Jenson Button locked out the third. Fernando Alonso will start from seventh place at Ferrari's home race, alongside Sebastian Vettel, with Daniel Ricciardo and Sergio Perez rounding out the top ten.
A lot was expected out of Kimi Raikkonen after his good runs in the Free Practice sessions. However, it was not to be and he was one of the casualty of Q2 as he dropped out in 12th position, being beaten by Magnussen at the end of the second part of the session.
Daniil Kvyat also managed to get ahead of Raikkonen in to P11 but a 10-place grid penalty for using a sixth internal combustion engine means he will start down in 21st place.
Mercedes would want to see both their drivers compete against each other at Monza and if all goes right they will see both drivers on the podium. Will Williams be the party spoiler for Mercedes? Or will Alonso bring the Ferrari home? Things will get interesting at race day tomorrow so stay tuned!
