Fiat India Launches the 2014 Punto Evo at an Introductory Price of Rs 4.55 Lakh

Fiat India finally launched the new Punto Evo, the updated model of the company's flagship hatchback, today with a price tag ranging between Rs 4.55 lakh - 7.20 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Besides the design changes given to the updated model, the company has also re-branded the nomenclature of the hatchback to the 'Punto Evo'. For people not in the know, the Punto's new-generation model was re-branded as the 'Punto Evo' in global markets; however, in India it's just a design update and not the new-gen model.
Mechanically, the car remains unchanged and continues to feature the existing engine options: 67bhp 1.2-litre petrol, 89bhp 1.4-litre petrol and 1.3-litre multijet diesel in two states of tune - 75bhp and 92bhp.

Talking about the design changes observed on the new model, the front fascia of the Punto Evo has taken its inspiration from the Avventura Crossover, the soon-to-be-launched Fiat Punto based crossover. The hatchback now sports new blacked out head-lamps, a rectangular grille with slightly rounded corners, a revised bumper along with trapezoidal fog-lamps with chrome-lined housing. The only change made to the side profile of the updated model is the new set of alloy wheels that give it a sporty appeal. However, only the high-end trims of the car aka 'Emotion' and 'Sport' will get alloys; other variants will make do with 14" steel wheels with full-wheel cover.

The cabin gets an updated dashboard and switches that look quite similar to the ones found in the new Linea. The top-end variant is being offered with an all-black interior colour scheme, while other trims get a two-tone black and beige coloured overalls.
