Fuel Prices Hiked Again For Fourth Consecutive Day; Petrol Nears Rs. 106/Litre Mark In Delhi

- Petrol and diesel prices have been hiked for the fourth straight day

- Petrol price in Mumbai is the highest among all metros at Rs. 111.77/L
State-owned oil marketing companies on Sunday increased fuel rates for the fourth consecutive day across India. According to details listed on the oil retailer's website, fuel rates have been hiked by 35 paise each in the National Capital. With the latest revision, petrol in Delhi is slowly inching towards the Rs. 106-mark, currently retailing at Rs. 105.84 a litre. Diesel prices in the city soared by 35 paise from Rs. 94.22 a litre to Rs. 94.57 a litre. Fuel rates differ from state to state depending on the value-added tax (VAT) levied by the state government.

In Mumbai, petrol and diesel are priced at Rs. 111.77 a litre and Rs. 102.52 a litre, respectively

In the financial capital Mumbai, petrol became dearer by 34 paise from Rs. 111.43 a litre to Rs. 111.77 a litre while diesel touched Rs. 102.52 a litre, after a hike of 37 paise. Petrol and diesel are selling at Rs. 106.43 a litre and Rs. 97.68 a litre in Kolkata. Customers in Bengaluru will have to shell out Rs. 109.53 a litre for petrol and Rs. 100.37 a litre for diesel. In Chennai, petrol has breached the Rs. 103-mark, currently priced at Rs. 103.01 a litre while diesel costs Rs. 98.92 a litre. Petrol and diesel have been priced at Rs. 110.09 a litre and Rs. 103.18 a litre respectively in Hyderabad.

The fuel rates vary from state to state in the country due to the value-added tax or VAT.

Fuel rates remain the most expensive in the Sri Ganganagar district of Rajasthan, as customers will have to shell out Rs. 117.96 a litre and Rs. 108.75 a litre for petrol and diesel, respectively. In Madhya Pradesh's Anuppur district, petrol has touched Rs. 117.27 a litre while diesel is priced at Rs. 106.38 a litre. Fuel prices in the Parbhani district of Maharashtra have touched Rs. 114.30 per litre and Rs. 103.38 per litre, respectively. In Bhopal, petrol and diesel have reached Rs. 114.45 a litre and Rs. 103.78 a litre.
