Fuel Prices Hiked For Third Straight Day; Diesel Breaches Rs. 102/Litre Mark In Mumbai

Fuel rates continue to soar as oil marketing companies hiked petrol and diesel prices for the third consecutive day across the country. As per details listed on IndianOil's official website, petrol and diesel rates have been hiked by 35 paise each in the national capital. Customers in Delhi will now have to pay Rs. 105.49 a litre for petrol and Rs. 94.22 a litre for diesel. It is the third consecutive price hike as rates remained unchanged on October 12 and 13, respectively. Fuel prices differ from state to state, which depends on the value-added tax (VAT) levied by the state government.

In Mumbai, petrol prices are already above Rs 111-mark, currently priced at Rs. 111.43 per litre, after a hike of 34 paise. Diesel has breached Rs. 102-mark after a hike of 37 paise. Customers will now have to shell out Rs. 102.15 a litre for diesel. Other metro cities also recorded a similar hike in fuel prices. In Chennai, the petrol now costs Rs. 102.70 a litre while diesel has touched Rs. 98.59 a litre. Petrol in Kolkata now costs Rs. 106.10 a litre, while diesel retails at Rs. 97.33 a litre. Customers in Hyderabad will have to pay Rs. 109.10 a litre and Rs. 102.80 a litre for petrol and diesel, respectively. In Bengaluru, petrol has jumped to Rs. 109.16 per litre while diesel has touched the Rs. 100-mark, retailing at Rs. 100 a litre.

Fuel rates remain the most expensive in Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar district, where petrol retails at Rs. 117.59 a litre while diesel is priced at Rs. 108.37. In the Anuppur and Rewa districts of Madhya Pradesh, customers will have to pay Rs. 116.91 a litre and Rs. 116.51 a litre for petrol. Diesel, on the other hand, retails at Rs. 106.01 a litre and Rs. 105.65 a litre in these districts. Fuel rates in the Parbhani district of Maharashtra have touched Rs. 113.97 per litre and Rs. 103.02 per litre, respectively. Petrol and diesel rates in Bhopal have reached Rs. 114.09 a litre and Rs. 103.40 a litre.
