Top Speeds Of F1, IndyCar, MotoGP And More

- Each series of F1 cars has a different top speed
- Top speeds rest heavily on power, aerodynamics, and technology
- Other factors include a driver's skills and the nature of tracks
Formula 1
Top speed: 360km/h / 223mph
Acceleration: 0-60mph - approximately 2.6s
While 372.5km/h (231.4mph) is the fastest speed seen during a race, Honda's RA106 set a 397.36km/h (246.9mph) top speed during one of the speed runs.

IndyCar
Top speed: 380km/h / 236mph
Acceleration: 0-100km/h in approximately 3s
MotoGP
Top speed: 362.4km/h / 225.5mph
Acceleration: 0-100 km/h in approximately 2.6s
NASCAR
Top speed: Just over 321km/h / 199mph
Acceleration: 0-96km/h in 3.4s
NASCAR actively restricts the top speeds of its cars as a safety measure after numerous incidents. The cars' weight work against them in terms of outright top speed.

Formula 2
Top speed: 335km/h / 208mph
Acceleration: 0-100km/h in 2.9s
F2 cars are designed to be less sophisticated than F1's; thus, they often lap 10 to 15 seconds slower.
Formula 3
Top speed: 300km/h / 186mph
Acceleration: 0-100km/h in 3.1s
Formula E
Top speed: 280km/h / 174mph
Acceleration: 0-100km/h in 2.8s
The core concept behind Formula E is to welcome sustainable electric racing into cities, which gives the series a different priority beyond just the speed.
DTM
Top speed: 300km/h / 186mph approx.
Acceleration: 0-100km/h in 3s approx.
WTCR
Top speed: 260km/h / 161mph approx.
Acceleration: 0-100km/h in 4.5s
WRC
Top speed: 200km/h / 124mph approx.
Acceleration: surface dependent
Though these speeds don't seem challenging, driving the same circuit lap after lap is an altogether different story than having a co-driver describe every turn at speed with only a few moments' warning. Besides, rally drivers get very less grip to drive on.
