The Korean carmakers- Hyundai and Kia are building up on their minivan or MPV range. The new-generation Kia Carnival did get our attention quite fairly and there's been buzz about the Hyundai Staria as well. Now Hyundai is coming up with yet another minivan- the Custo which is expected to be unveiled on August 27 at the Chengdu Auto Show. It will be specific to China only and while the exterior was previewed last week, we now get to see images of its cabin, and it looks futuristic and neat.

It gets a 2+2+3 interior with captain's chairs for the second row and adopts a floating centre console.

The interior seems to have taken some inspiration from the new-gen Hyundai Tucson and the steering wheel seems to be borrowed from the compact crossover along with the switchgear. It gets a 2+2+3 interior with captain's chairs for the second row and adopts a floating centre console sporting a 10.4-inch touchscreen fitted in portrait mode and flanked by a few touch-sensitive shortcut buttons. While the digital instrument cluster on the Tucson sticks out a bit from the dashboard, it's well integrated in this minivan.

The wheelbase is 3055 mm long and it will ride on 18-inch alloy wheels.

Now we don't yet have the mechanical details of the Hyundai Custo, but there are speculations that is shares the platform with the Tucson and comes with a choice of powertrains- a 1.5 litre and a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engines. The former is good for 165 bhp and 253 Nm of peak torque while the latter will put out 230 bhp 353 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include an eight-speed automatic and a seven-speed, dual-clutch gearbox, with both sending power to the front wheels only. In terms of dimensions, it is 4,950 mm long, 1,850 mm wide, and 1,734 mm tall. The wheelbase is 3055 mm long and it will ride on 18-inch alloy wheels.
