- Prices of entiire Indian Motorcycle reduced in India
Indian Motorcycle has announced price cuts across the company's entire model range in India, with priced being slashed by as much as Rs. 3 lakh. The entire range of Indian Motorcycle models are fully imported from the US, and the price cuts are a result of the government's decision to reduce customs duty on imported motorcycles. Indian Motorcycle sells a wide range of cruiser motorcycles, ranging from the Indian Scout Sixty to the top-of-the-line heavy duty Indian Roadmaster. All Indian bikes are manufactured in the US and brought to India as full imports.

"We are glad that the Government has rationalised the import duty structure to 50 per cent across the range for imported bikes. The new attractive price of our products available in India will definitely lead to more sales. This will also create opportunities for enthusiasts to buy our iconic products and be a part of the Indian Motorcycle family," said Pankaj Dubey, Managing Director & Country Head, Polaris India Pvt. Ltd.

The Indian Scout Sixty is the most affordable model at Rs. 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom)
The decision to cut prices of the completely built unit (CBU) models comes after the government announced a reduction in customs duty to 50 per cent on imported motorcycles. Many premium motorcycle brands, which sell imported bikes in India, have announced price cuts, but only on those models which are CBUs. Motorcycles which are assembled in India from completely knocked down (CKD) kits are expected to become more expensive with an increase in motorcycle components. But customs duty on other imported motorcycles, particularly from countries like Thailand, with whom India has a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) will remain the same.

So far, Harley-Davidson and Ducati have announced reduction in prices of their individual CBU models, but prices of other models have been kept unchanged. Harley-Davidson has a range of models which are CKDs, as well as manufactured in India, and so far, prices haven't been revised or increased on these models. Most Ducati models are made in Thailand, so Ducati India has kept the prices of these models unchanged. BMW Motorrad has also announced price cuts across the model range in India, which mainly include fully imported bikes from Germany. Over 70 per cent of Triumph Motorcycles models in India are CKDs, so these are expected to become slightly more expensive.
