Maruti Swift's More Powerful 'S' Variant Coming Soon

While everybody has been waiting for Maruti Suzuki to roll out the facelifted Swift, the Indo-Japanese carmaker has different plans. Prior to the launch of the updated version, the company is planning to bring in a more powerful version of the Swift hatchback. The company has released multiple teaser images, claiming that a new version of the hatchback is coming soon. The stress on the word 'S' in all the images and mention of 'Power packed machine' in one teaser, assures us that this will definitely be a sporty variant of the car.
Since, we didn't spot any design changes in the teasers, we expect the S variant to look similar to the existing model. However, the cabin might get more features. That said, the one thing that still remains unanswered is the engine option that the car will come with. I think, it will be the existing 1.3-litre Multijet with a variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) that will help it produce 90bhp. With the existing model, the engine is tuned to deliver 74bhp. A similar engine will also power the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.

The Swift currently misses out on some important features like a start-stop button, auto-up touch functions for front passenger's window and electrically adjustable outside rear view mirrors. Since it will be positioned as the new top-end variant, I am of the belief that it should have all the aforementioned features.
With a more powerful engine and added features, we expect the Swift S to be priced around Rs 7.5 lakh.
