Monaco GP President Assures 2022 Will Not Be Its Last F1 Race

- Monaco has a contract till the end of the 2022 season
- F1 wants to have races in Shanghai, Las Vegas and Kylami
- Its president has reassured that this will not be the last race in Monaco
For a while, there have been some fears that the iconic Monaco GP could be nixed in favor of a new exotic venue on the F1 calendar. Monaco which is the oldest race of the world championship and has been part of the calendar throughout the sport's illustrious history has a contract that runs till the end of this year. In the recent past, with faster and larger cars, it has made for a rather boring race and in terms of revenue that F1 makes out of the race is amongst the lowest.
But the president of the Monaco GP, Michel Boeri who leads the Automobile Club Monaco has reassured fans that this year's race will not be the last Monaco GP. The Monaco GP is part of an illustrious triple crown that includes the 24-hours LeMans and the Indy 500 and something Fernando Alonso has chased in the last few years.

Monaco has made for the most thrilling qualifying session but because of the narrow track, overtaking is almost impossible
''I want to address what has been written by the media. There is nothing true about that. We are still in talks with them (Formula 1) and now we have to make it concrete by signing a contract. I can guarantee that after 2022 a GP will also be held (in Monaco). I don't know if the contract will last three or five years, but those are details," said Michel Boeri.
Already the 2022 season will be the longest one in F1's history with 23 races. In 2023, already, the additional Las Vegas GP has been announced Liberty Media, the commercial rights holder to F1 is trying to squeeze in the Chinese GP. There is also talk of a race returning to Africa in 2024 with the South African track of Kyalami being again in the mix. The current Concorde agreement maximum allows for a 25 race season which is why there has been a view that Monaco may not return if it didn't offer more money to F1.
