MotoRoyale Announces Partnership With SWM Motorcycles

- MotoRoyale is the superbikes initiative of the Kinetic Group
- MotoRoyale sells MV Agusta bikes in India
- The SWM SuperDual will be the first SWM motorcycle in India
Motoroyale, a superbikes initiative of the Kinetic Group, which currently markets and sells MV Agusta bikes in India, is all set to introduce Italian motorcycle brand SMW Motorcycles in India. SWM, which stands for Sironi Vergani Vimercate, Milano, but is colloquially known as "Speedy Working Motors", has been known for making enduro, motocross and off road motorcycles since it first commenced operations in 1970. MotoRoyale will launch the SWM brand in India in a step-wise manner, first with the SWM SuperDual 650 in 2018, which will be brought to India as completely knocked down (CKD) kits and assembled in India.

The company hasn't disclosed yet what other SWM models are being planned for India. We had already reported that under the new partnership, the SWM SuperDual will be the first bike to be launched in India. The SuperDual is a 600 cc adventure tourer, which will offer both on-road, and off-road capabilities. The SuperDual is powered by a single-cylinder 600 cc engine which makes around 54 bhp of power and 53.5 Nm of torque. With an 18-litre fuel tank, high ground clearance, long travel suspension and dry weight of 186 kg, the SuperDual promises to be a capable adventure tourer.

With the launch of MV Agusta last year, Motoroyale showrooms hosted the world's most premium motorcycles. Now with our new tie up, with SWM, we aim to give our customers a new segment offering: that of a motorcycle capable of on road and off road riding; as well as long distance touring. The SWM, Superdual 650, our first planned product from SWM shall be India's first such product. We plan to introduce the SWM SuperDual in India by 2018 by CKD manufacturing and are in the process of setting up its manufacturing and homologation activities," said Ajinkya Firodia, Managing Director, MotoRoyale.

SWM Motorcycles was founded in 1971 by by Piero Sironi and Fausto Vergani and was based in Milan, Italy. SWM manufactured Observed Trials, Enduro, Motocross and off-road motorcycles in the 1970s and 1980s and has been one of the world's most well known brands since.It is today headed by Ampelio Macchi who is the creator of the history of prestigious Italian brands as Cagiva, Husqvarna and Aprilia. SWM currently has as many as 12 two wheeled models on sale, ranging from 125 cc to 600 cc.

So far, MotoRoyale has announced the launch of only the SuperDual in India, and it's not clear yet, what other SWM models will finally be brought to India. MotoRoyale currently has three exclusive dealerships in major cities like Pune, Ahmedabad and Bangalore. The company is planning more dealerships in Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi and other cities across India.
