NeoKavach Launches India’s First Wearable Airbag Vest For Riders

- Airbag vest deploys in 100 milliseconds during a crash or fall
- Mechanical trigger system with replaceable cartridges
- Offers comprehensive upper body protection
NeoKavach is an Indo-French joint venture focussed on rider safety, which has launched a range of intelligent wearable airbag vest systems for two-wheeler riders. The NeoKavach Air Vest is claimed to be India’s first intelligent wearable airbag system, which is designed to reduce severe upper-body injuries, particularly to the chest, spine and neck areas, keeping vital organs safe. The airbag vest system deploys in under 100 milliseconds during a crash offering cushioning to vital areas like the torso, back and shoulder areas.
Motorcyclists face a risk over 40 times greater than car drivers, due to their increased vulnerability in collisions. And studies show that nearly 70 per cent of rider fatalities involve severe torso, spine or neck injuries – areas where traditional riding gear provides limited protection. The NeoKavach Air Vest aims to address these gaps by deploying within 100 milliseconds of detecting an impact, shielding vital upper body parts and reducing the risk of fatal injury. The airbag volume of 17 litres up to 28 litres, promises complete upper-body protection.
The NeoKavach uses a tether-based mechanical trigger that connects to the motorcycle and activates instantly upon impact or sudden rider ejection, quickly deploying the airbag to minimise impact severity and prevent spinal hyperflexion or organ trauma – all without any batteries, charging or electronic sensors. It can also be reset and reused by replacing the cartridge after deployment, making it a practical and cost-effective safety system. The NeoKavach Air Vest is manufactured in India and meets global certification standards. The Air Vest has a CE Level 2 certified back protector under which the airbag sits, for improved safety and force distribution.
Along with the NeoKavach Air Vest, the company has also introduced two more products – backpacks integrated with airbag technology. The NeoKavach Tech Pro, priced at Rs. 40,800, offers a backpack with integrated hydration pack, laptop pocket, tablet sleeve and helmet holder as well as advanced protection with the airbag vest. The NeoKavach Tech Pack Air, priced at Rs. 36,000, offers lightweight comfort with enhanced safety and smart mobility features for daily commuters. All three products are now available for purchase on the NeoKavach official website and select authorised retailers across India.
