The titanic battle between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen for the 2021 world title will again be relived via Netflix's Drive To Survive documentary series which enters its fourth season this year. The documentary will premier on the streaming service on March 11. The series which has been credited for enhancing the popularity of F1 by manifold especially in North America will be take a close look at the 2021 season which went down to the wire to last lap of the season where Verstappen beat out Hamilton. Notably, the documentary will not feature much of the world champion himself as he opted out of participating in the documentary as he believed it fuelled fictitious rivalries.
The documentary will be chronicling the longest F1 season in history as the sport despite the challenges thrown across by the pandemic ended up with 22 races on the calendar. It will also showcase the intense rivalry between the Ferrari and McLaren teams which competed for P3 and P4 in the constructor's championship.

The Netflix documentary returns for its fourth season on March 11
There were a number of notable performances like Esteban Ocon's maiden win the Hungarian GP where he was supported by his teammate Fernando Alonso and the dramatic Azerbaijan GP which saw a red flag in the fag end of the race as Verstappen retired thanks to a tyre blow out. The race was dramatically won by Sergio Perez and Vettel scored the first podium finish for Aston Martin as a constructor.
Of course, the documentary will also showcase the dramatic final lap of the season where Hamilton was overtaken by Verstappen after unusual calls by the FIA race director Michael Masi which resulted in the safety car coming into the pits earlier than normal. The 2021 season also marked the end of Kimi Raikkonen's storied F1 career which spanned over 20 years and in the process he ended up becoming the most experienced driver in the history of the sport.
The documentary kicks off right on cue for the start of the 2022 season which begins on March 20 with the first race happening in Bahrain. Already half the teams have showcased their new liveries and their 2022 cars and by next week, all the teams head to Barcelona for pre season shakedowns before pre season tests start in Bahrain ahead of the first race.
