Okinawa Oki100 Electric Motorcycle Teased Ahead Of Launch

- The Oki100 electric motorcycle will be launched later this month
- Oki100 will have over 100 kmph top speed, and 150 km range
- Okinawa says the Oki100 is entirely built in India
Electric two-wheeler manufacturer Okinawa Autotech is getting ready to launch the new Oki100 electric motorcycle. And just ahead of the model's launch this month, Okinawa has teased the upcoming bike. The teaser image shows the Oki100 shrouded in smoke and fog, and while it's not easy to make out what the Oki100 will look like, we can say with certainty that the new electric will have the same mini-bike dimensions that we saw at the Auto Expo 2020. So, in terms of styling, the Oki100 does seem to be heavily inspired by the Ducati Monster, complete with an exposed trellis frame, but performance-wise, it's expected to be more of an urban runaround, than a sporty electric bike.

Specifications have not been announced yet, but from what Okinawa's leadership has revealed to carandbike in the past, the Oki100 will have performance comparable to 125-150 cc motorcycles with internal combustion engines. So, expect top speed of around 110-120 kmph, or definitely over 100 kmph, and Okinawa says the Oki100 will even have range of over 150 km. We expect the Oki100 to come with swappable lithium ion batteries, and other hi-tech features like geo-fencing, built-in satellite navigation, and Bluetooth connectivity.

The Oki100 electric bike will primarily take on the Revolt RV400, which comes with a 3.2 kWh battery pack, and a claimed range of 150 km, and top speed of around 90 kmph. According to Okinawa, the Oki100 will be built entirely in India, and only the battery cells will be imported. Apart from the Oki100, Okinawa is expected to launch three more electric two-wheelers, including the Cruiser maxi-electric scooter which was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. Another high-performance electric scooter is also expected to be launched, along with an e-bike for commercial applications, designed for load carrying, including delivery and courier services.
